What is the biggest challenge of being a freelancer?

Hi everyone. I started this thread just for fun. I don't have much challenges of being a freelancer as I am a part time SEO freelancer. Maybe sometimes, I come across buyers that says A and then changes to B at the very last minute, buyers that buy my services but wanted the service to be done other than I what have advertised and offered, and many more other challenges. Whatever it is, I find these challenges fun as I love to work with people.

So I want to hear from you guys, what is your biggest challenge of being a freelancer? Feel free to share and how you cope with it. Thanks! What is the biggest challenge of being a freelancer?

To me maintaining the reputation is the biggest challenge for me a freelancer. Will love to hear what others have to say on this.

Same with me, I have been freelancing for more than 2 years and some freelancers already know me by my reputation. My main line is providing content to forums so the community gets to read my posts. I always try my best when posting to maintain my reputation as my posts should have substance and relevant information.

Whether you are posting on forums or blogging, your role as a content provider should be to provide substance. If there is no substance on your content, no one will read your posts. When you are writing blogs, your posts should be useful, interesting and well written. When you are posting on forums, your post should add value to the discussion.

I work online part time while working a couple of other jobs on the side.

The biggest challenge? Hmmmm... Lemme think....
I would have to say... Patience...

Yes, patience, as it takes time to become established and if you're only in it part time like I am, your revenue fluctuates even more than a full time freelancer because you're not at it as hard as they are (you don't put in as many hours). This leads into the challenge of dedication as well.

So, it has it's challenges, but they're different than full time ;)

The biggest challenge...

Patience and time wasters. As soon as I understand it's a time waster, I just close my door and politely wish them luck in their future ventures. A potential client is way different than a time waster. Learn the difference between them or waste time trying to convince septic buyers. For starters, you'll probably have to spend tons of time finding out who'll you end up doing business with.. At the end.. You will manage to figure it out fast and skip forward to your next client instead.

I've had lots of clients that are time wasters. I once had this one buyer, he took 3 days to reply to my order and never told me what he wanted specifically. The order was marked as "late". I requested for a mutual cancellation and he rejected it for a few times until I submit a ticket about it. This type of buyers require a lot of patience What is the biggest challenge of being a freelancer?

Well, the issue I had then have to do with finding clients that I can write for to earn. It was frustrating for me to spend so of my time then looking for clients. I must say that reading some of the articles here have given me a clue in what to do about it.

Making the money flow continuously is my main challenge as a freelancer. Availability of work is another challenge.
Sometimes I earn very niche. After paying my entire bills, buying supplies, spending for entertainment etc, I still manage to save a good money in my bank account. However, sometimes my earning is so poor that I cannot even pay my bills and I have to use reserve funds. Sometimes I am so busy that I work 12 hours in a day and sometimes I don't have any work and I remain jobless for a week.

I have the same challenge as yours. My earning is not so good these days.

It is truly challenging when you run out of jobs that you do not earn anything for a week. So how will you feed your family if you go out of work for a longer time like a month maybe? That is one issue that I want to resolve when I go full time in my freelancing because if freelancing is my livelihood then I should have a little guarantee that work will be stable and income will be consistent.

A regular job gives you a fixed income. However, as a freelancer you have an option to earn really big. sadly, this does not happen so often as you might be jobless for a long time. These days I do not have any good assignments, I am paying my expenses through the money I generated in the previous month. Last month I earned really good, but this month My earning decreased substantially. Freelancing can be very challenging if you do not have another income to support yourself. I have a farm which helps me to feed my family even though I am not earning as a
freelancing.

My challenge is making more money, getting good and high paying clients and finishing the job on time.Sometimes I'm limited by time because of my offline activities and trying to adjust that but more than that I'm good with my freelancing job.
