Who Has A Guide to Dog Training?

Hello everyone!

So I recently bought a very cute but BIG puppy for my family. We named her Bailey and she is a St. Bernard/Black Lab mix! She is 2 months old, already weighing 18 pounds. She is so cute and all 3 of my girls love her! My thing is training her, my wife and I have never had a big dog so we are kind of stuck on how we should train and teach her. We have both done some research but havent really come across anything that will seem to work.

So my questions to my fellow freelancers and friends is...
Do you have a big dog?
Do you have any special tips or tricks on training a big dog?
Are there any websites to go to for help on obedience and training?
Does anyone have any special guides or even tutorials on dog training?

Anything will help!

I don't have pets at home. But few months back i was watching some very nice and professional videos how to train your dog to obey you, how to learn him where to pee and so many other things. For this, i guess YouTube is your best source of tutorials, just use search and i bet you will find all you need for dog training

Yeah I agree with Anwebservices, there are some amazing videos and tutorials you can find online.

I have not had my own dog as such, but when we were growing up we always had a Labrador, such amazing dogs.

I think the basic rule is to treat your dog with respect and not punish them for bad behavior. Dogs are amazing animals that so badly want to please you. They are also highly intelligent beasts... so treat them like a member of the family and reward them for all good behavior.

If you stick to that rule your big dog will be trained in no time.

Oh and congrats!

We have 1 medium size dog and 2 small dogs. When the 2 small dogs were puppies, they are of the same age, we hired a dog trainer to train them for manners especially for discipline. The dog trainer showed us how to train our dogs. It was just a repetition of movement. When you teach “sit” to the dog you should push down slowly the rear of the standing dog so it will sit. Do it many times in a row for 3 days and it will obey your command on the 4th day.

I think you should just get professional help training dogs can be very tricky. I think that it requires experience. I would just pay for the service of a professional dog trainer. It'll be easier on you, you can go along for the training, session and learn and eventually train the dog yourself. Dog training requires constant training if you don't have the resources you can always get the book dog training for dummies which is available online on in any good book store. You may also check on Youtube for any videos on Dog training.
