    What if Pinterest came up with a search engine?

    Maybe Pinterest should come up with a search engine that indexes all the various clips available, not just on their site but any clip site or any image online. That could be a useful resource.

    Reverse image search is a huge research topic. Do you think pinterest has resources which can help in this research ? What if Pinterest came up with a search engine?

    And, Pinterest seems more like the expert now with images than even Google, which can be a collage of only slightly related images.

    With thousands of images shared on Pinterest, it's highly possible. But we should remember that not all people use that site...

    But in a few years, there will be millions more Pinterest users who might prefer using Pinterest for search rather than Google images.

    I'm studying my computer engineering and I was same thing which shek pointed out. So, I doubt anybody could pull this things accurate enough ! What if Pinterest came up with a search engine?

    It might be against their TOS but I'm always seeing images that come from blogs. And, some of those images must have some kind of copyright protection. I wonder how Pinterest would check them all.

    No site allows copyrighted images What if Pinterest came up with a search engine?. I mean if you are caught using copyrighted images in your site also, google woll ban you.

    I too am addicted. There is so much neat stuff to see. Recipes, crafts, home improvement. I can get lost for hours in it.

    The only thing is that you have to sign up to search Pinterest, as with Google you don't have to.

    I see it is a good way to make more sign ups, but some people don't want to sign up for things before they know what it is like.

    I think that you can search it before you sign up. Unless things changed, I know that before I was a member I could. I just could not pin anything.

    What do you use it for in general? I find it fascinating because I feel 1 image = 100 words What if Pinterest came up with a search engine?

    Pulling image recognition is not that easy. So, I guess it might take more time for them to come up with such a thing. What if Pinterest came up with a search engine?

    I think that they would be. I know there has been so much on the site already that you could pretty much put almost anything on it as long as you follow the TOS.

    That is actually a great idea, they should do an image search for the wide web. Search the web for an image, pin it and share...done. Rather than search the web, connect to Pinterest, copy paste the link, add to board then share.

    Pintrest is a search engine just like Youtube and Facebook are search engines, most websites are search engines and the overall ranking on the site with a proper backlink increases the stronger ranking positions in google, bing, yahoo, ask.

    You search on it right? They could make the change for example like AVG did to search the full web, my websites I build always have both options and likely will use other search servers to grade they algorithm of search.

    I think Pinterest should create a meme creator of their own before they make a search engine. That way it would be another cool Pinterest feature, and they would be able to add more tags to the image (knowing the words you added to the meme so that would add as tags so you could find the image easier.) Because sometimes I see posts and the description is just "lol" so it doesn't show up in the search.

    Yet the original question was 'what if pinterest came up with a search engine?' And, what do you think about that idea? Of course, as someone else pointed out, Pinterest has a built in site search (as most sites do). But Pinterest only allows you to search for pins and images on the Pinterest site. Much like Facebook lets you search it's own site. But what do you think of the idea of Pinterest have a Google like search where you could search pages from around the world?

    As the saying goes, you are welcome to the club anytime. However, I don’t think it is that easy to come up with a search engine because it involves a big capital and a big budget for the operations. If you will notice, Facebook has a search of its own although it looks like pocket size only. If a social media will create a search engine I think Facebook is the most probable and worthy.
