A forum or blog for Teenagers

I want to start writing articles for teenagers.I want to specifically educate and informed them about stuff that has to do with their age as teenagers and a platform for them to interact.

My question is, should it be a blog or forum? especially since I will need them to interact not just commenting.

Forum, definitely forum because if you want them to interact with each other, forum is the best option. Forum post are not long winded, short and precise, straight to the point. People of all ages discuss at forum and nobody back stab each other. Instead, the community members are very helpful in giving advice . If you write in blogs, teens may read but not comment , so you do not know they had understood what you had written.

I so agree with you. In a forum everyone seems helpful indeed especially when it comes to techie things.
It would be nice that there will also be a forum for teenagers. They will be able to improve their reasoning and writing ability in joining forums.

Actually there are many forums online that teenagers and young working adults that had joined in. You should try teenhut, botw and many more. However, I still prefer Forumcoin.

I haven’t been to a forum for teenagers yet although I chanced upon a Facebook Group. At first glance, I would say that I am out of place because the young ones have the penchant for using abbreviated words which can give me a headache. One thing I noticed is their love for the Korean pop and drama that there were so many posts about Koreans. Maybe that is the trend for the teenagers now. Not to forget, they also love video games.

You can create a WordPress site so that you could easily post articles about teens and such. Plus at the same time, you could incorporate a forum to your website using the BBPress forum or the newer WPForo forum plugin. This way, you still are able to provide your visitors a chance to get in touch with each other through your site. Also, instead of a forum, you could also go for a question and answer plugin. That could even be a lot better given your target audience. Teens have a lot of questions ya know...

I really like this idea. If you could incorporate both facets into one, it could be a very effective mechanism in sparking conversation as well as keeping discussion going between your users. If you dedicate time to developing regular blog posts, you should be able to maintain a consistent flow of content to the forum which will hopefully keep users around longer and discussing frequently.

Forum would be the best way but depends on your budget and your availability. You can also make a blog about that category and make several topics instead so you won't have to merge them all in one article or post.

I think the forum would be better since it allows interaction between readers. You would need some moderators though since some people might just go nuts and comment without thinking straight. You could do like posts and stickied threads to get your message through and start discussions. Blogs are more for reading material and to provoke thinking.

Why not just do both? Many websites consist of a blog and a forum. You can easily integrate them together so the readers can switch between the two. A blog is very nice to post high-quality content and then forums are amazing for interaction, bonding and sharing experience with other members. I believe that would be the best way and it would grant you the most success A forum or blog for Teenagers

It's literally the best of both words but obviously, it will take more time to set up and optimize.

Like most everyone else said, I like the idea of a forum for your purposes the best. A forum will allow for the users to build a community around each other and interact more frequently and meaningfully than posting on a blog would. However, I don't think this means you need to eliminate the idea of the blog either. As the forum owner, your responsibility will be to still keep the forum and discussions alive, so creating forum topics about your blog posts could be a great way to integrate both avenues.

Write a meaningful blog post, and when it's time to share it via social media, share it as an update on the forum too and let the users talk about it there!

if you are writing articles, they should be published as blog posts. In order words if you are publishing instructional articles, you need a blog. Forum is a discussion board where the members will have their say on the topic, which is one or two liners and not more than 5 lines.
Forums need healthy discussion, therefore you need to have lots of members, getting members is really hard, it is harder than getting traffic. Just having members is not enough, the members should actively interact on your forum.
Before you decide whether it will be a blog or forum, consider aforementioned points.

I think a forum would be the best plan. I think you would have to offer some kind of incentive or reward though to get teens to participate. Most teens are over scheduled these days, and when they have down time they usually like to play video games or chill with friends. I am not sure they would be into forum posting unless there was something in it for them.

pieces of pieces of advice taken.Maybe I would set up the two.one(blog) for my own articles to educate them and the other to let them post their questions and they'll try to answer them on their own.

I think how about both? I mean you can have blog for mainstream site. And attach the forum to it. This way you can have the extended articles on that. And you can also make some good content through forum. So this way you have two options for user generated content. And you can monetize forums too. So it all comes down to how you wish to spend time. And you may also benefit from having both of them on the site.

A blog is safer as far as chaos is concerned but a forum is more dynamic. Over here, the most popular forums for the young are those dealing with Korean songs, movies, tv shows, and any Korean items. I don't really know why but that's the craze now. So if you are going to write a blog about Korean dance, for example, that would cater to the young. And with the forum, just be aware that the young people have their tantrums and flame wars are common among them. Just my thoughts.

This is a really good idea. I think a forum will be more suited in this case as you want interaction between the teenagers. You must make sure that the topics on your forum attract the teenagers. I will advise you to make a research about the different topics that teenagers are actually interested in. You will have to decide about marketing and how to retain members on your forum.

A blog would definitely be a better idea if you're looking to cater to teenagers. They're much more interested in blogging and the format for them is easier rather than searching forum for posts. It would be the best idea if you care about interaction.

Do both! Start with the blog to post your own content, then add a forum for them to comment on that matters you blog about- this would give them the freedom to create their own too-. Buy some traffic after you've got everything settle and just let the content flow as it goes. I must add, I think you are a really brave person, interacting with teens is not an easy task!

Teenagers love to interact with equals, so forum is a must! They can feel free to express and exchange opinions, and they will add more followers or subscribers than adults. Put interesting and actual topics they can talk about. Ask them about situations they have experienced and how they solve them. Don't forget to give them links to websites where they can find help, or support. Also, interact with them, solve their doubts, give them recommendations, teenagers will appreciate you take them in consideration.

Why not both? Couldn't you link the two together? That way, you could use the blog to provide advice, commentary, your own input, etc., and the teens could use the forum as a place to exchange ideas and concerns with one another while you facilitate it and even add some of your own content there as well, of course? I think this would be a great idea just in general. I think I could have used something like this when I was a teenager.

You can have a blog or a forum on the same website. However, this is something I'd have to think about as there are already so many groups on Facebook where teenagers can join and interact with their peers, that is, if they still have time after school or on weekends. You might have a problem keeping control of the members as there's no simple way to check if they're actually teenagers or some adults with malicious intent. If I have a teenage child, I'd probably not allow him/her to join just about any chat group or forum and certainly not during school days.

That is a wonderful idea - good job. Why not do both? You can write it in a forum and your personal blog . Good luck!

This should be a blog. A free blog or a sub domain based blog or an unique domain based blog. To write for teenagers or for young generation- it will be better if you post on your own blog. The young generation or teenager people will subscribe on your blog for getting the future time blog post very fast. Secondly make a comment section also with every blog post. Thirdly add an add on so that any visitor of your website can share your blog or blog post to worldwide.

Thanks
Centurion
