Pardon me for saying the contrary to some of the comments in this discussion. Blog commenting is going great and it is a favorite with some bloggers. They would be commenting regularly on popular blogs so that they can leave their footprint there. Since the popular blog has many readers then the footprint can be seen that can result in unexpected traffic for the commenter.

The future of blog commenting is Dark. One thing about blog comments, though, is that they have a semi-permanent life. Try to find some of your important old tweets and status updates.

Often these things begin, take root and grow. They may die or blossom and bear fruits. It is no exception with blog commenting. Only time will tell.

Commenting on other People's Blogs can be a bit tricky, You are left at the Webmaster's mercy because he/she can decide whether to approve your comment or not. If they don't like a single word in your statement they can disapprove or delete your comment, bloggers are known to adding most of the new incoming comments into the Trash or Spam folders. This can be quiet disappointing for internet marketers especially when you work so hard to write a reply only to have it rejected.

Unlike on social networks like YouTube where your Comments show up instantly, marketing yourself on other people's Blogs can sometimes be a loosing Game. The Future Looks very uncertain, very bleak.
