Rand Fishkin will be just an advisor at Moz in 6 months time

In 2014 I was pretty shocked to find out that one of my favorite SEOs and online marketing gurus of all time, Rand Fishkin stepped down as CEO and left Sarah Bird in charge.

Rand still stuck around Moz though continuing his WhiteBoard Fridays videos as well as staying active with all kind of studies, updates, and tests. He also continued to appear on the big conferences and I even saw some live events with him and smaller SEOs that just needed guidance. Point is that Rand was active and continued what he did the best giving SEO advice with data and proof to back up his claims as well as a detailed process on how to actually achieve results with SEO.

Now, just found out that in 6 months time Rand Fishkin will become only a simple adviser to Moz leaving all his operational responsibilities behind.

One specific thing I like about Rand is his ability to explain an otherwise complicated SEO technique, he really has a gift for public speaking and teaching SEO. On the other hand, he is also a very talented SEO, he has a high level of curiosity, a trait that every SEO needs to have, the ability to relentlessly trying to figure out why certain things work and act in certain ways.

Anyway, the real question I have at the moment is: Will Rand Fishkin retire from SEO? Will he continue my beloved Whiteboard Fridays? I hope he doesn't quit altogether. He is still the largest shareholder of Moz accordingly to searchengineland.com and he is still the face of Moz and the face of SEO for a huge number of people out there, I'll read every article or watch every video he will put out, it doesn't really matter to me if it is Moz related or not.

I think he earned enough credibility. I am guessing he's going to visit other places for investment and other opportunities. I think for that case, it'd be worth watching his twitter and other social media. I don't know what is the model of the MOZ for making money. But based on anyone quitting the position, it seems they are not much profitable. Again MOZ remains authority either way. But it'd be fair to see how they make money before judging him. I don't have much idea about him.

Did he say why he left the CEO position? Perhaps he wants to focus on other new things and opportunities... or is working on some secret projects that might surprise us in the near future. I really enjoy watching his videos. Even the really old ones. He is very charismatic and makes complicated things sound so easy and simple! A true SEO expert.

Rank totally killed it as an SEO specialist, and will probably continue to do so even after he has left. I really enjoyed his white board fridays and hope he contunues that too. Anyway i will him luck where ever he goes.

I never heard of him actually, but he sounds like a talented individual and one that will be successful no matter where he goes. I wish him well and hope that he can continue to thrive in his new position.
