How much does keyword optimization helps an app?

Hello everyone! I have been noticing major changes in Google's algorithm. I was wondering how much does keyword optimization helps android apps these day? Is it even effective? Are people actually doing that?

ASO (app store optimization) is crucial for high ranks of the app and therefore for the marketing. This optimization includes keywords. For example, if you will have keyword in your title it will increase your rank.

It's 100% effective and should be done. You should always aim to track your competitor's keywords, your own, analyze your keywords, try to pick better ones and so on. There are plenty of Softwares available to help you with all of this if you're having problems.

Thank you Tronia! Thats pretty informative.

I agree with you and I think people need to understand the importance of keywords. Usually, new comers ignore this feature and later face problems.

Android app require very specific and niche keywords. Having too much keywords and store will ignore the app. And having less keywords means not able to see the results out of it. I think depending on how the apps are optimized it can be possible to manage some of the keyword issues. I have one app which I am trying to get more downloads for. But lot of things need tweaking there.

Thanks for the reply. I have an app named - "Maya Mindful Sounds". Just released the first version. I have got 50 downloads, all through quora and twitter promotion. I am tweaking the app on regular basis and hoping to see how the keyword optimization may change in near future.

If you optimize as well for your apps then it is not only get high rankings on Apps store but get good rankings on search engine results. But anyway, it depends on number of downloads or installed which can consider to get high positions on Apps search.

Yes that's correct. We started doing keywords installs for our clients and after a few weeks they started to gain traction on google search itself too!

I would think that apps would need optimization as much as websites. I don't know that for a fact but it stands to reason. I think that many people need to use these apps when they are trying to optimize their content. It seems like it would be very important to do as well.

Do you mean to say that keywords are more effective when you are using mobile browser? I had read in a news item that mobile browsers are now the majority of internet users such that webmasters are in a scramble to make their website responsive to mobile browsers and apps. If that is the case then maybe we should also focus on the apps for now so that we wouldn’t be caught flat-footed when the SEO makes a paradigm shift.
