"Page 1 on Google in 30 days!" - How can these SEO experts actually promise things like this?

Freelancers and SEO experts,
I have a question for you.. I am a bit concerned and I'm also puzzled and confused.

I have seen literally hundreds of promising SEO services from both splendid SEO experts but also from large SEO companies for a very long time where they promise that you'll end up on Page 1 on Google in about 30 days or less. - As I've said numerous of times before, I'm nothing near a SEO expert and I have very very limited and basic knowledge about SEO in general, which is the reason I'm puzzled over statements like this.

How can these people be so certain that they will bring you to the top of Google, or to Page 1, for any of the keywords you want to use?

The only reason I can see for someone to be able to promise something like this is that it's easy to achieve. - Easy for an expert that is. And I don't mean easy as in without effort. - I mean easy as in, without much struggle.

However, I do know that there's tons of competition out there and my competitors are trying to rank higher than me etc. etc. - That's the way it is.

But if my competitors already ranked high on google, using the keywords I want to use.. How could anyone give such a promise? - Especially when they state "within 30 days" etc.

Ranking in the first page of google within one month may be very much possible based on the condition that the keywords used are lowly competitive and also that the website contents are unique, freshly updated on a regular basis. it all depends sometimes, on how well structured the website is in relation to the rules and guidelines governing SEO. but in most cases, it takes about 45 days or 2 monsths for a site to rank on google first page. but the main key here is that the keywords used MUST be VERY VERY LESS COMPETITIVE.

Thank you very much for the explanation chetaseo, I appreciate it. So, about 2 months and I'll be on page 1? - That sounds pretty neat actually. But it doesn't change the fact that some people are claiming to "skyrocket you" for any keyword you want.. - Such statements are in fact false.

The way I see it is that a lot of these claims are misleading... I have seen some so called SEO experts claim they can rank my website on page 1 within a month for any keywords.

Like what, you can put my website #1 on Google for make money online? Because that is the keyword I would then choose, since the claim is any keywords right?

Ok so we all know that is not going to be possible... I think Mike is 100% right here. They can rank you #1 on Google for any keywords and there is the fine print that states except in the following cases which will cover their asses.

I don't like it when I see unrealistic claims like that.

That's exactly what I mean Lynne. Any keyword in 30 days and blah blah blah. It's bogus and I've always thought it was pure BS. And you know what? - After the replies in this topic, now I know I've been right all along. Except the fine print, which I never really was aware of.

That is why, even a buyer needs to have some knowledge no matter how little about SEO so else, they will just get easily deceived by those kind of un-realistic statements

Andre you know what the thing is here though, that you can target some very low competition keywords when you start out your blog or website and those will be easy to rank for, so as soon as your website is indexed you can start generating a little traffic and it will also make your website a little stronger each time you start ranking for keywords. That is what I found anyway. It is like your website is a living breathing thing.

Every little thing you do that helps it strengthen in one aspect then affects everything else. Over time everything moves up in rankings. It takes a bit of time but suddenly you can rank for tougher keywords and you must do this so that your website can again grow stronger.

Unfortunately many so called SEO experts and specialists promise and give many guarantees. I strongly recommend to avoid those who make these kinds of promises, because no real and professional seo expert can feel okay with giving such guarantees. I would rather work with someone who is realistic, and down to earth about this because ultimately this is a tricky field, that depends on many things. Ultimately how your competitors are doing will have an impact too, and no seo specialist can have an effect on them as it is beyond his control.

I agree with you EliteWriter! - Sure, I'd love to get SUPER results in matter of days on one side, but on the other hand, I do know that it's not likely that something like that would ever happen.. So I try to stick with people who are realistic. I'd rather have the "hard truth" then some fancy stories.

So how about if you run google ads that you pay by click can that get you to the top page sooner? I am looking into this myself and figure why not pay $300 or so a month for clicks if you can sell enough and end up on top of google if you have a good product to sell?

There is no such thing as a sure thing about ranking on the first position in 30 days. If an SEO company tells you these lies, run and never look back, there is nothing for you there!

I don't think it's impossible to rank first for a certain competitive keyword in less than 30 days but it wildly varies from case to case and from niche to niche, claiming 100% that you can deliver such a service is just lining to clients upfront.

Maybe those SEO experts have their way in convincing potential clients. But in actual practice, I have read so many discussions that the effect of SEO work on the ranking cannot be defined regarding the time. That means the ranking can go up tomorrow or next week or maybe next month or even 6 months after. That means the promise of 30 days is an empty promise and cannot be trusted.
