That's remarkable. I can't even fathom that amount of money.

I can't stop giggling now. I am having visions of being interviewed and asked how I made my first million and having to tell them the dirty domain name I bought and sold off to a porn company hahaha.

My husband will be very confused if he looks at my internet browsing history.. you know in the name of research and all.

I mustn't tell him, that's for sure or he will be researching for me hahaha.

Wow. If I could go back in time to say about 1998, I would buy up these domains, and then sell to the highest bidder.. and then become an instant millionaire. I have tried the domain selling business and I was not very successful. A lot of people withdrew their offers, and never heard anything back. But to imagine that a domain can go for millions is mind boggling. I wish I had a nice domain that even went for about ten thousand dollars, but unfortunately I do not. We can all dream though, with the hopes of making it big. Did you hear about top expensive domain name?Did you hear about top expensive domain name?

Yeah me and you both Everett! Domain brokerage is big business but there's only that very small percent of domainers that get luck with a domain like that which sells for x millions. But then, these same people started off like me and you, probably not realizing that their domain would be so valuable one day that someone or some corporation was willing to pay x millions for it. I think that's one part of it that keeps me motivated to always try new things with new domains/websites. I've had some success in the past selling domains and it's a good crack as well so it keeps me motivated to try new things and hopefully one day, become the next fortune 500 company or end up on one of these lists. The only thing is, it's getting harder and harder to come up with something unique these days as everything you can think of, has usually already been thought about.

For instance, I was thinking about starting a blog or a forum on self help stuff and people that wanted to help other people with life stuff, advice, encouragement etc etc. I liked the idea of using the .me TLD so the site could be called selfhelp.me or youhelp.me or something. No chance! Most of those are already taken (even if they are just parked domains). This is because there are some big players (domainers) out there that know that eventually, someone will want that domain and be willing to pay big money to get it too.

Bursts into song "If I could Turn Back Time.... "

Yes imagine! Oh my that would be amazing.

It is tempting to go and spend the day searching for domain names that might fetch millions... but I'm not so sure I would ever manage one that works out in my favor lol. It would be another day of messing around online, dreaming of millions.

Wow that's awesome. I already knew about all of those domain names or had come across them at some point. I didn't know they were purchased for those prices though that's incredible. Wish I would have registered fb.com around the time Facebook.com was. Some of those are on the List of most expensive domain names sold including several more not mentioned here such as Insurance.com sold $35.6 million in 2010. Internet.com sold for $18 million in 2009. Could you imagine if you owned all those domain names and websites. And it's crazy to think how those domains sold for that much considering they are just domains really. Although a little piece of Internet reality that can never be destroyed by a freak weather advent such as lightening, floods, earthquakes and landslides. They'll be there forever. I wonder if any of these domains drop and then you'll be able to register them again. I would imagine not. I'd expect they are all paid up for at least a 100 years what do you think? Geez that is insane how much money was sent on those domain names. It makes me think that you could make money if you can get hold of good domain names to hold onto and sell later down the line to someone that desperately wants it. I suppose people are already doing this right?

Yep, that's a thing!! There are virtual real estate agents out there doing this right now. Crazy, right?

That is really awesome, it sounds like a fun way to make some money, but I would bet that you would need to really know what you are doing and buy quite a lot of domains to make something of this. I guess not every single one will be bought over and not every one will make buckets of cash either...

I have read about these high priced domains. I registered many domains in a hope that one day I will be able to sell these domains for a high price. sadly, every year I am paying more than $200 for domain renewal but not been able to sell any of my domains. The highest domain price I have ever paid is $32 to renew my domain.

Internet truly brings out the crazy people, pardon the pun. I wonder who is in his right mind to spend so much just for a domain name huh. It is really incredible to read the figures that correspond to the domain names. I wonder if that situation still works now that there are still people who are crazy to buy domain names in millions of dollars.
