    How do you manage your passwords?

    I keep a list of passwords on a notepad on my computer and one copy uploaded to email. I try to vary all passwords, especially on sites that have access to my financial information/credit card.

    You are right with your system of varied passwords especially with your financial transactions. You forgot to mention that you have to change the passwords from time to time. I also have a list of my passwords but it is on a piece of paper that I keep somewhere. It is better that way because you cannot trust keeping the passwords in the computer for something may happen or someone might hack your computer and get hold of the passwords.

    I use 1Password. It stores all your user accounts and passwords in an encrypted file. It installs a browser plugin that automatically fills out your pws on known websites.

    I've seen something similar for Chrome, might have been this one. Though I can't remember the name.

    But wouldn't that be a little dangerous since it's an all in one password? Once your master password is unlocked, they can access all your saved accounts...

    Use unique passwords on each site and even add a few special characters to the end of a password, once you feel your password is secure enough just to add extra measure of safety.

    I have a notebook that I keep all my passwords in. no way that I could remember them all.


    I'm using your idea now and it saves me so much time. I have one of those micro notebooks that I keep by my computer for easy access. Also, I write down notes to myself in it, in addition to passwords and login details.

    I guess most of us here have several emails and registered with many forums that’s why we have a legion of user names and passwords to take care of. It is a mortal sin to use one password for all your accounts hence it is imperative to make a list of it. Keep the list in a safe place and better if it is not online so that when your computer is hacked then you have nothing to fear with your passwords.
