Here is an example:
You have a mobile site filled with reviews of Samsung ( you're a big fan of Samsung ). now if in your articles you start mentioning apple or apple iphone4/5, as secondary keywords, after you will have a number of these articles you will have incoming traffic on these keywords as well.

Do you mean to say that it is all right to include the keywords of a competing product that you are promoting? I am going into affiliate marketing soon and I will most likely create my own site for that purpose. When I am promoting Samsung phones, as in your example, I guess it is logical to mention iPhone even if I am not promoting the Apple products but the mention is only for the purpose of getting a hit from the searchers of the keyword iPhone. I think that is a neat idea.

I will elaborate on the comment shared above. You are reviewing Samsung phone. It is very likely that you will compare this handset with other companies such as iPhone, LG, Motorola, Nokia etc. Samsung phone is your primary keyword because you are basically writing about samsung phone. iPhone, Motorola and Nokia are your secondary keyword.
You can use your secondary keyword in the following ways
Samsung Vs iPhone
Samsung Vs Motorola
Samsung Vs Nokia
You can use these secondary keywords as the subtitles of your article.

This topic is also going on in my head because I am not well versed with keywords yet. In fact, even if I have read about keyword stuffing that it is not good for the SEO of your website, I still can’t fully comprehend the number of keywords that you can use on a single web page. Anyway, that is a good example because I can now relate to what a second keyword should be.
