I agree that you have Goal as the first in the list because that will determine everything. If your goal is not that difficult then I guess you can just hire a freelancer to do the work particularly with the posting of backlinks on selected sites. And if you have the time then it is best to write the contents yourself and think of the good keywords that go with the content when you upload it. But if your goal is pretty high and large then I guess an SEO company is imperative.

So it's really hard thing in choosing the right one. But do suggestions from friends help?

What is the basic thing for a site to be involve in SEO process.

Any type of can be do SEO. Of course, to have a quality site, you need to have an original content.

I don't really take my friends suggestions on SEO as they don't really work in the SEO/internet marketing field. But if someone on a forum that i respected made a credible suggestion, i might consider it.

I don't really take my friends suggestions on SEO as they don't really work in the SEO/internet marketing field. But if someone on a forum that i respected made a credible suggestion, i might consider it.

I myself don't have friends that's knowledgeable in SEO but I do consider asking only friends from SEO forums.

Call me paranoid but my take when it comes to hiring is a good and verified recommendation. I don’t easily believe the reviews about a company and a short research should be done before hiring whether it is a company or a person. Pardon me for saying that the internet is rife with scammers and you will only look stupid if you bite the bait. Anyway, a good company has a good track record and perhaps that’s the one you should focus when you do the research.
