Do freelancers ever get to take a vacation?

Freelancing is not really a work at home dream, it's hard work. And, with all the hours invested into working, where is the time for vacations or weekends off?

I agree with you. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. Whatever work we do, stress cannot be discounted especially if we work more than 8 hours in a day. A vacation is a good way to de-stress. Whenever I would come back from a vacation, I always feel rejuvenated and even excited to go to work.

Nope I work all the time, no matter day or night or weekend or weekday.

Almost doesn't seem worth the effort if you have to work seven days a week, all the time.

A regular job would not require so much of you. Assuming that is an option where you live.

I work all the time as well. I do take a break from time to time though because everyone needs a break or else they get stressed.

I could not work all the time as it would just make my work seem pointless. You must have activities that are enjoyable to do, even hobbies. At least I hope you do.

As I tell my wife, if I am not working then I am not getting paid. As a freelancer, you are essentially a small business owner. If a local shop just decided to close for a week, they would be out a lot of money. The only difference is, as a freelancer, you are the service.

I think the flexibility in freelancing can allow freelancers to go on vacation frequently. This is because one can choose to write during the day or at night. You do not need to spend more than 12 hours on the screen. 6 hours is enough and the rest can be for vacation.

You are right that as a freelancer you have the flexibility of time. That is why it is important to choose freelancing jobs that allows you to work at your convenience. I once had a project where I could only post on certain hours of the day and it tied me up so I had to exit from it as soon as I could. As I always say, a freelancer is also human, an employee, a worker who deserves a day off and a vacation once in a while.
