I dont think anyone has been doing to well, everyone purchased all the crappy twitter followers these jacksmacks were selling and chased everyone away!

First make a gig affordable and attractive so buyer are willing to buy.
Then provide them good service so that they will order your gigs only.
You can advertise your gig also.
