I think you can promote your gigs through a social network that has been available in the widget. In my experience, it can help me in promoting my gigs. The important thing is, your service can provide benefits and interest to potential buyers.
It seems that the featured gigs get many sales
I think you hit the nail well and truly on the hammer there Bert! Featured and Highlighted services get way more sales than those that aren't. It's a very good investment which can pay for itself many times over.
No matter how unique or valuable your gigs, but if its not buyer needs, you will hard get sales. if you have twitter or facebook, you can promote your gigs on there also.

You can try to promote via Facebook or get your gig featured
just promotions in social bookmarking sites for ur gig
