Depending on your time frame you could start a website in something you're rather interested in and just sell ad space. This is more long term but you did not mention a time frame.
You could try out some sites like 99designs if you're good with graphics. It's not that stable but if you win one high paying one a month then that's $1,000 covered pretty easy. Although I am yet to really step into the field from what I have seen and heard from friends affiliate marketing could definitely get you to that number.
