PageRank does not mean more traffic. It's that simple.

I think Google Page Rank feature is already phased out. Even when it was working pageRank was not related to traffic. Whether you have 100 views in a day or 10K views, your PR would not improve. However, having high PR would increase the chances of getting more traffic because high PR will reserve your spot in top search results and when you appeared on top results, chances of getting clicks increased.

Based on what I had read in some discussions about Page Rank of Google, it is like an index that is used by Google in determining the rank of the website in the search list. As a searcher, you will surely look up the top portion of the search list first before going down or before even going to the next page. Especially when the searcher is using a mobile browser, the search list is short and the website links on the first page have a great advantage of getting a click. In that case, that is new traffic for your website.
