    If you get traffic you're alexa ranking will be better. What it is is a lot of advertisement companies use alexa rankings as a way to value how much advertising on the site is worth.

    Alexa is an Amazon company. Amazon is also a big player in the world wide web. Alexa ranking is primarily based on how much traffic the site generates. If you can see the alexa rank of any website just by installing alexa tool bar in your browser. Alexa ranking matters because it shows how much traffic your website is pulling, traffic means visitors. More visitors means your website is generating more revenue through ad impression or ad clicks. Advertisers also give emphasis on alexa ranking because they want to have their ads on the website that generates good traffic.

    From what I understand about Alexa, the ranking is mainly based on the traffic that the website gets. An example is Google which occupies the number 1 slot in Alexa rankings for a long time. That means Google is getting the most number of traffic among all the websites in the internet. When your website is ranked high in Alexa then that only means it is getting a good amount of traffic and has no connection in getting traffic.
