Webmaster and promotion forums are a good place to advertise a web hosting company. A lot of people will join webmaster and promotion forums looking for tips and help to start their own site. And they will probably be looking for companies that can help them to host their website, blog or forum. If you can advertise your company on a lot of these forums and even offer exclusive discounts for them, you could gain a lot of new paying customers this way.

I think that opening up your very own web hosting company can be rather hard because people will always pick the well-known and trusted companies over yours. So it will take time, patience and probably quite some money that you will have to invest into building that trust through credibility and advertisement. I guess you can advertise the web hosting company just the same as any other business - through social media platforms, various ads, forums, forums signature and through emails. I am not sure which would be the most effective though.

Yeah. Web hosting is not a cheap business that you can just throw away or ignore if you feel like it. You need to build up the reputation in order for people to trust your service. It will probably have less impact advertising on social medias since most of the users are only there for socialism and not business. On SEO and webmaster related groups perhaps.

Social media sites could work, you never know. I'm sure there are a lot of many on social media sites especially older people who may not know how to start their own website but are interested in it. If you can make an eye catching advertisement that is easy to understand then you could attract some potential customers from there. But like you said, you will need some sort of a good reputation. It's not easy to just enter the web hosting market.

Was wondering about that too. I'm just looking at it on a perspective of being a "social" media so business marketings such as these web hosting companies might have a very small to none impact when you try to endorse them on social medias. Majority of the social media users nowadays are teens who don't have problem with their lives and doesn't care about the future or what's above them.

I'm guessing forums are the only way? Forums with relevant niches.

Perhaps you can do that kind of business in operating a web hosting service if you have an established reputation in the internet already. Let’s say you are an influencer then that is already a big factor. I agree that people wouldn’t trust you with the hosting service of their site if you company is new. To be honest, I wouldn’t do that myself because we already had a sad experience with a new web host provider that closed shop without warning. That would be disastrous to my site.

I don't have a web hosting service. However, I am thinking to start a resellar hosting business. Currently I am paying $6.5 per month to host 10 websites, I can get 25 resellar hosting account by paying $16 per month from my web host. By paying $10 more, I will be able to host 15 more websites. If I am not using all of the hosting accounts, I can sell hosting accounts and make money as well as pay my own osting charges.
Social media is a great place to advertise your product and service. Good thing about social media marketing is you can do it for free,
I will also ask my friends and families to use my hosting service of they are thinking to launch their own website or already have a website.

That looks like a good idea. I'd suggest you to get VPS account instead. And this way you can add as many websites as possible. You can invest into the OVH hosting. And then get reseller panel. So that may work out for your business too. And you can host your own sites under it. VPS seems to be good option when you have lot of sites to manage. Reseller hosting may work too but VPS offers you more control in that case.

What I have noticed that you can be member of some forums. And offer them some offers on that basis. I have seen this happening on forums like forumcoin. Here the hosting owners give some discount for the services. Like say basic plans get 20% discount if the user is from that forum. So it does work out in the due process. Promoting through paid to post services. And also the services such as content marketing is another option. Though it's not easy to get clients but it's definitely doable in the due process.

Having discounts for users on certain forums is one thing, but I believe the hosting company which is advertising on that forum still needs to pay the monthly fee for advertisement aside from the discounted rate. Probably as a sign of good gesture in desperate times. Don't you think?

I think advertising from the day 1 would be free one. And the paid should be only thought about if you have decent budget. Otherwise it is going to be nothing but waste of time and money. So one should be super careful about how he or she can be going about that. That's what I have learned from the experience.

Well, i think there is no other way, than the status quo, that's targeted Ads and learning how to place and how to make the best out of your Ads, especially Facebook Ads. To meet your expected result and turn ups.
Moreover you will need to engage yourself on forums, webmaster forums and advertise with them

Offering free hosting or at least, offering some free hosting, is one trick, mainly cause the buyers are incredibly cynical. Nonetheless, sometimes the high cost of the reseller program makes free hosting difficult to sell and sometimes the reseller company even forbids free hosting. Also, in another matter, if you don't place tight limits on what they can do, the users can abuse the privilege.

I don't know about this free hosting stuff. Since we are trying to do business here, we wouldn't recommend having the free hosting to start with. I understand what you are trying to say specially if it's a new hosting service. You are right that some people might just abuse the privilege. A good idea would be to have a discounted options for the first few months or what.

The best place to advertise a web hosting company is web hosting forums and social networks. Why? because there are more people relate to web hosting field and they can buy your services. Especially you should advertise on forums which can get better conversions.

You're going to find out quickly that a web hosting company is super hard to break into. There are already a ton of established hosting companies that people are going to go to before they go to your website. The people that are attracted to a new web host are scammers and people looking for something for nothing. If you're charging the same price for hosting as an established host people are going to choose the established host every time.

I guess the social media is the biggest pasture for marketing anything particularly an online business. The biggest advantage in social media is that you can do your marketing even without budget as long as you have the time to spend for your marketing chores. Post on your Facebook timeline, issue a tweet about your business or post the photo in Instagram, there are many other ways. And if you have a big network in your social media account, that is like having your own audience.
