Hi, Goldlady, there it cannot be only one platform to bring you the recognition you want. I think you must try as many as you can, and if I would be in your place I would start with Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. If you advertise on all these platforms you may find success and sell your writings!
Wish you good luck and I hope you will find what are you looking for!

I completely agree with you! I never understand why people only want to choose one when you have so many FREE platforms that can all increase and aid your promotion. All it takes it a bit of time and effort to set up... but it's definitely worth it in the end because it will increase the sales of your book. Besides those that wallet suggested, I'd also recommend simply making your own sell site or a blog where you could further introduce your book to potential customers. It can work very well and many book authors do it.

When it comes to promoting, I go for Facebook hands down. To me, it seems the most popular and most effective the way I see my Facebook friends with their activities of posting and commenting. I have just a few hundred friends but I get more than 50 likes at the minimum lately because I have been active unlike before when I rarely post. Now, I try to post at least 3 times a week just to be abreast with my friends so that when I need to promote something, I would get responses.

I agree, try to use a platform that has a lot of userbase already. Especially if you know someone will support your work there. Facebook is your best option.

You can easily create a page for free and post updates about your progress there. Make the page look legitimate and you now have a nice way to promote yourself.

I have tried Wattpad mostly for writing. But found that there are some of the copy pasting stuff going on lately from some of the people. So reddit and wattpad are out of my mind. I am instead spending time on smashwords. It can get my book out to many other distributions. So that can be making money as well. I'd say it's worth posting the content on better publishing networks.

@iamawriter would you like to give me the name of this app perhaps? Sounds interesting.

It is known as Shareaholic. You can pin it on your browser and each time you want to share your work just keep that page open and click on that icon. You will have to register with individual sites before sharing, though.

When it comes to writing, the best choice would probably be Facebook because it's easy to attract new users by current users' activity - if someone comments on 2 of your posts, their friends are very likely to check them out.
Twitter might be a good idea if you have a popular profile, but I think it would be harder to present something like writing work on a site where you get 140 characters for each post.

For promoting your work, Facebook still has the widest reach, with over 1.94 billion monthly active users for March 2017, while Twitter has a monthly average of 328 million users for the first quarter of 2017. If you want a more focused audience, you can join the FB groups for your chosen niche.

Not as a writer. That is social media site. The thing is writers need some writing platform. Not social media sites. As you can see this means one has to find out means to promote their work. Where people can read their stuff. That's the part where facebook fails. It gives people incentives to reuse work of others. And that's bad for sure.

I would go with Facebook too as it has the widest reach of any of the social networks. I am sure there are groups on there where you can share and promote your work as well. Maybe mutual sharing would be the way to go. You could get readers and also give viewership to others in the same position.

That's actually sad to hear. I don't like FB at all and I think it's highly unprofessional. Lots of spam and senseless posts not to mention self-promoting. However, i have been considere=ing this for a while and I think I will create a professional one.

I think if you read the other comments you will find that Facebook is the way to go. I mean you can certainly experiment with other promotional tools, but you may not see the forest for the trees. It isn't ideal, but it is what works.

Yeah, so I've been told. I had one for professional uses before and quite frankly I hated it. I had followed the largest amount of people I could and I was daily bombarded by senseless post of people bragging about their lives. Still, i will most likely create one for professional reasons since it seems to be the way to go.

I think if you want to do self promotion as a writer, the only great way for me is having your own blog to use as reference. Facebook is good at promoting certain products and service but from what I've noticed, until they see your product then they won't budge. In my opinion, it's best to do some freelancing and give references to your site during proposals so they know your skills and would even recommend you to others sometimes.

If you have not been using Facebook for your promotions, whether, self-promotion, affiliate marketing or other promotions you are missing out on a lot highly target traffic. Facebook is by far the most efficient promotion tool on the Web, if you can utilize its hidden features, you'll generated a lot lead. I used Facebook advertising for my promotion.

I've had a lot of luck promoting things with facebook, actually, and if you want to self-publish, I recommend lulu.com--I've used them for years, and it is easy to format hard copy for your readers. They do dust jackets, different sizes, etc. It's also pretty cheap to print with them, so you do get a decent cut of your book sales.

I think writing for your own blogs is best for self-promoting your writing skills. You can use lots of social media platforms to reach more people and also you can use PPC ad networks to generate some targeted audiences to give you some review about your blog posts and writing skills.

You could try blog sites like Tumblr, wordpress, or blogspot but it's a daunting task to be able to gather crowd unlike joining in writing communities that are active. If you want to promote your skill by showing your abilities in writing, I would recommend going to reddit. I have subscribed in a subreddit wherein people posts their ideas for a story or plot and then aspiring writers would just stories from the idea. It's worth a try if you are in need of supporters in what you want to achieve and what's better is that those who will be supporting you is knowledgeable of writing since they are from writing communities.

Create your own facebook page or (maybe you already have one)?. Facebook is a great way as to where you are able to reach out to many people with the same interests as you, for instance writing/reading books, self publishing etc. I think that would be a viable option for you, to gain interest by posting shorter examples of your works. You could also find someone here at SEO clerks maybe that you could pay to help you with this.

I think facebook page may not be a good idea for writer. Instead writing on some places where one can be linked is a good idea. You can see that most of the writers out there are making the content for other sites. And then applying for bigger sites. That's how they are coming up with portfolio. I have seen that strategy works lot better than the facebook page.

As a means of keeping an online portfolio to show your work, I would recommend going with WordPress. It's one of the best websites out there for running a blog and displaying your writing capabilities to potential clients.

In terms of promoting yourself, I would say your best bet is going with Facebook. With over 2 billion people using Facebook worldwide, it is hands down the most popular form of social media, and therefore will give you the best shot at targeting a demographic.

I also think that Wordpress is a great option. I am working on building a new site there to try to promote some eBooks that I want to sell. It's really easy to use and pretty intuitive. Like many have said above, I will still use facebook as a nexus or hub of a wheel to promote everything I am putting out there.

Tumblr. The reason I say this is because Tumblr has a lot of book lovers. Also, if you sell your book on Amazon (or wherever), you can create a page on your Tumblr blog that leads directly to your Amazon page and hopefully, people will buy your book. Maybe you can do this with other platforms. But it's super easy to do it with Tumblr. That's my two cents. Wish you success! Which platform you think it

I will suggest you to do it on Facebook. I am an online seller and I have created a page concerning my online selling. I have been quite successful. Some of my friends actually shared my page with others and this has definitely increased my number of followers. I have seen that many writers have their own Facebook page.

I already tested Workana and did not succeed.

I think the best option today is Facebook. Look for groups and you will find a plethora of jobs.

I think the Facebook Page is one good way of creating your resume on the internet. It can be posted in other sites as a link and it can also have a sort of reputation with the number of followers and the number of “likes” on the posts therein. You can also use the Facebook Page to promote your interest like if you have a blog or a forum. What’s good in a Facebook Page is that you can moderate the comments like it is a real forum.

Creating an author page on facebook is a good way to establish your brand as a writer. I have author page on facebook. However, just having a page does not help you much, you need to build followers. In order to build followers, you need to have something to showcase, for instance a blog, a website, a published book etc.
