Any other means of increasing page views/visitors aside from social media?

We all know that social media is one of the best means in generating traffic and site views. But aside from them, what other platforms are you guys using? I am thinking Reddit and Digg but I'm just curious as to what you guys have using lately.

Cheers! Any other means of increasing page views/visitors aside from social media?

Yeah reddit is good if you share the right content and make out it is not yours , I know sounds weird lol. They don't like self advertising . Now if any member got to the first page of reddit with many up votes then you be looking at a lot of traffic. Just daily work on your links bookmark them with Diigo , Digg, delicious , use sites link dropmylink to find blogs which allow comments or guest posts and use your site to get a backlink each time. Also post on twitter, facebook timeline, facebook groups. Pinterest also submit to tumblr, stumbleupon .

As long as you got content and seo on your website you will get there eventually. Takes time and effort you need to put in the effort to reap the rewards.

I totally agree. It's not weird, I have noticed that too on Reddit. That's what I'm thinking also. I'm just having a hard time. Maybe because I can't really commit to SEO that much since I have other things in mind to do. But I'll definitely keep these in mind. Thanks alot!

there are lots of other means we can use to increase viewers or visitors on our websites, and whilst reading your thread I remembered something, it's kind of advertising during live events, and believe me for example if you attend an event relevant to your website you can ask the DG or the MC to pass your announcement about your website and this may attract visitors.

That's interesting. That could also work, although it's rare because most of them won't even bother visiting.

Paid traffic is a good way too, to increase views in your website, and it's an easy way compare with social media because you will not do the same effort.

Yes paid traffic is the best choice perhaps. But it's only for people who really have the money and is taking it to the next level. Mine is only a blog for now and still under construction. Maybe soon. Any other means of increasing page views/visitors aside from social media?

I have 3 articles published as of now but I'm currently working on some 500-700 word articles. It contains different kinds of topics such as eSports, MMO games, health and drugs and some outdoor recreational activities. Any other means of increasing page views/visitors aside from social media?

There is actually as well a new social network called socialbook.me . try searching on google as well for top social bookmarking websites and you find there is a lot of sites online which will help you increase traffic on your site. Use traffic exchanges as well helps lower your alexa ranking. But would advise only use exchange sites if you do not use adsense on your website.

Are you talking about free traffic ?

I would say be aware of ads, are they turning your viewers away? Ads are important for a website, but too many of these can turn people away. Are they too big, get in the middle of the page, do they have sound? These are things you need to consider.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

galegatling
Not really, it just doesn't get any popularity. My ads are not that big. Some of my articles only have 2 ads, others have 3. And no they are not in the middle or getting in the way of the article. They are located at the side only.

I think Facebook pages help a lot if you have good 100k likes on your Facebook page. I drive traffics to my blogs through Facebook pages and I have over 100k likes in one of my facebook page.

Woah this is really great JackDan! If you don't mind me asking, how many views do you get approximately on your blogs when you post them on your Facebook page?

Hi thanks for your nicequestion. Yes I agree social media one of the best source for generating
traffic to website or blog. But, it is not ultimate solution. Though you can
generate traffic by traffic exchange as well and paid advert on Google or some
other. But I always recommended to you to use SEO method to get all benefit for
your website. And this is long lasting and ultimate solution to get real
traffic or real benefit. Though for SEO affect you have to have well knowledge
on this and you have to long plan for real effect. Your mentioned 3 social
network also very good for sourcing some traffic too.

Postloop can help. I think you can do attract traffic by sometime doing it the old school way. Word of mouth and flyers can help. Gimmicks like give aways, freebies and gift card can also help attaract attention. Sponsorship can also help awareness that your site exist with the used of advertisments on tv, radio and newspaper.

I was thinking about Postloop too. But the way the system works there is kind of different. I mean people there just come and go. :/

I would also like to know other ways to attract traffic to your site aside from social media. Every means available seems to be online either free or paid. I think the article is probing this question: are we forever limited to the option of social media and online platforms for attracting traffic? What about offline? Is there any free platform offline that can be used to generate traffic? How would that work out?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

galegatling
I am curious about the offline means if it's possible. But I guess it will be hard since we are talking about a website traffic.

I recommend reading this article from Neil Patel. Maybe this will help you:

Cheeers! He has some good tips really. The one that I liked was the part when he said who has time to read a 5,000 word article on your blog. Makes a good point. I wouldn't even dare do that.

As of now, my best bet and only way of getting good traffic is the social media. Gone are the days when the email was potent in this field. If you have a fairly good number of active friends in Facebook then you can probably tap that source. Another is if you have a Facebook page that has many followers. You can promote your site on that page. I have friends who are members of Facebook groups with thousands of members that when they want to promote something, they post on the page of that group and they somehow get some good reactions. So basically, social media is it.

Right. As what we keep saying to others, social media can really help us in getting if not many, but some traffics. I don't have a page or group with many likers or followers. I'm currently looking for one wherein I can share my articles and they can give me constructive criticism. Cheers.

I have that share app from Google Chrome that is extremely useful. There are several sites where you can register and share publicly. You do not have to actually take part in those sites but just share your work there. I have done that when views had some value like niume.

I've only used social media, so far, to promote my blogs, so this is really great information from all of you here. This gives me a lot of ideas and insights as someone who is brand new to content distribution for profit...

I have had no success with Reddit or Digg. But other people have. So don't listen to me! Any other means of increasing page views/visitors aside from social media?

You might try:
  • Tumblr
  • Paper.li
  • Flipboard
  • Scoop.it
  • We Heart It
  • Bloglovin

I have also used Tumblr. (Tumblr is like Twitter on steroids. You can microblog but you get to use more than 140 characters.) Too soon to say more about my success since I just started my microblogs this year. I use it because it's free and easy.

You might also try Paper.li (create your own newsletter) and Flipboard (create your own magazine) and Scoop.it (a content curation tool) and We Heart It (an image-based social network). I use them because they are free and easy. You might also add your blog to a reader like Bloglovin which is where some people go to search for blogs.

The platforms mentioned above all feed into Twitter and Facebook anyway.

If you get subscribers or followers and/or get your content out there to be found, by using any of these, that's what you're after. Right?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Hmm. I've heard about Tumblr, never used it though. But those others that you've mentioned, how come I never have heard of them? Maybe I did not look enough? But when I searched Reddit and the net, I don't seem to recall seeing those sites being recommended! Or I probably have missed them. Seriously though, there are also a lot of people using those sites too?

you can try by answering forum sites or blog sites and add in your post link to get the readers to visit your site. Alternatively, add in your link at signature in forum sites, it is alike an advertisement.

I agree that commenting on blogs and posting on forums can be a way of increasing page views via more traffic that you can get. With the blog comments, you have to choose a very popular blog so that your comment can be seen by the thousands of regular readers of the blog. In forums, it is best to choose a dynamic forum with a big community for the same purpose of showcasing your posts.
