Typically, poorer communities have a higher crime rate. So, I would same neighborhoods with a large number of rentals compared to homeowners. Also, an area with few businesses, especially major retailers. Also, you want to watch for underperforming schools. Now, I don't want someone to come along and twist my words. It is not that all economically disadvantaged, or even most, are criminals. It is simply a fact that poor area do have higher crime rates, and a lot of that has to do with the lack of opportunities, which is kind of a chick and the egg thing.

When we moved to this home in 2001, we had a little difficulty in adjusting to the place because one neighbor had warned us of the rampant theft in our neighborhood. And being new to the place, we spent some sleepless nights in thinking of ways to protect our home. Fortunately, we have a fierce dog that will bark at the first sign of intruders. That dog saved the day for us. Fortunately, amid the activities of thieves in our neighborhood, we have not been victimized.
