Any reason for displaying total balance (besides username) ?

I believe that an seoclerks user account is the exclusive private property of any user of seoclerks be it a seller or a buyer. But sometimes, i wonder why the TOTAL BALANCE is always on display besides the username because i feel this should be somewhat hidden to prevent any prying eyes from seeing how much you have made so far. Though i know that you will surely be accessing your seoclerks account using your own private computer but i dont think that is enough for it to be displayed at the homepage of seoclerks website. i feel it should be somehow hidden. this doesnt only occur in seoclerks but also on fiverr as well.
So if i may ask,...is there any genuine reason on why it is being displayed on the frontpage of seoclerks site? or is it done to constantly remind the seller of how much he/she has made so far?

I love seeing how much money I have next to my username I work from home so the only people that would see it are my kids (2 and 4 years old LOL) and my husband. My daughter is really cute and always wants to see how much money I have.

I don't really understand what the problem is with having your earnings showing?

lolz.. i love that part where you said your daugther is really cute and wants to see how much you earn,..lollzz.
anyway. as er the earnings showing, i just somehow beleive that it should be hidden because you can never say who may be prying his eyes while you are on PC, .ok just imagine, you are cooking and you went to the kitchen to check it,.at that point, anybody (maybe a visitor or your husband brother or sister) just sneak and check your PC and see your earnings without you knowing it. would you like that? you can never tell but it can happen.

Ok seriously I was a bit confused by your post initially because I didn't understand what the issue was. I suppose it is all about context. I work from home in the mornings and I am all alone. Nobody looks at my laptop and nobody is there to accidentally notice anything.

Then in the afternoons my two kids are home with me, and then sometimes I work in the evening when my husband is home and I don't mind him seeing.

I guess if I worked in a busier place, like if I was in a coffee shop working I might not like my earnings showing right up there for the waitress or any other nosy person to see...

I do not know the real reason, but my guess is that most users would like to be aware all the time how much they have in their balance. So in this way it is easily visible and available. I know what you mean, that sometimes you may log into the site from your tablet, and so whoever gets a view of what you are seeing can see the balance too. I sometimes encounter this problem when I am waiting for my kids and take my tablet with me to do some work while they are at their lesson. There are other parents sitting next to me, and so I do sometimes worry that they may be prying on me. Maybe it should not be left up there you are right.

Good one that you just paint a scenerio of what can happen. i am particularly afraid of the prying eyes that may be lurking around to see what is on your PC screen that is getting you so interested. Maybe except if someone is in the comfort of his bedroom that he can feel very much safe but outside the bedroom, even in the sitting room, one still needs to be very careful.

I guess it is mainly motivational and to be honest I believe that most people use their home computer, where they are private and secure from prying eyes. However as in my case I do access it through my tablet when I am not home. At least the balance is not easily visible on my smartphone screen.

Forgive me for not following you entirely here. - Where exactly is that stated? - I can't seem to find it. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong direction. - That being said, people will always be able to know how much money any seller have earned by counting the orders x the price.

$9 x 100 orders, for instance, and they will also be able to know this by the orders in queue.

Oh, do you mean this?

I personally think it should be removed. We have no reason to need our balance on the top right hand side of every screen we visit within seoclerks. Sometimes im trying to screenshot something to show somebody something on my seoclerks page but i have to black out my balance or leave it showing. Its not that im rich or i have a crazy seoclerks balance, but my financial holdings are private. The only reason i can think of is that seoclerks wants you to know how much you have available to spend. For buyers this is good because we know what is available to buy services if your a reseller. Having the balance their can also be a reminder for sellers to withdraw the money they have just incase a hack does happen. I am not sure the exact reason but i don't think it needs to be showing personally. having a balance page is enough. Thanks for sharing!

I am happy someone gets what am trying to pass across, even apart from the prying eyes, one can also mistakenly screenshot the seoclerks homepage without blacking out the balance. though fiverr is also showing balance on frontpage but to me i feel it should not be there but if seoclerks wants to keep it as it is , no problem, i am fine with it.
As for the HACK you just talked, it will be very DISASTROUS if that happens because a lot of persons depend on seoclerks right now for a living via earning. so it MUST NEVER happen ooooo.

So, we are talking about the actual balance in the upper right corner, next to the usernames. - Well, if I get hacked, I'll probably get my funds back by SEOClerks,as SEOClerks should be able to see that I've been hacked, (the changed Paypal account or whatever). However, hacking my account wouldn't be of any use. First of all, SEOClerks offers great account security, so it's not an easy task to hack someone's account, change account details and then withdraw money..

That being said, the balance in the upper right corner is the amount of money you have right now, which literally could be any amount, zero or a million. - When I think about the privacy thing you've mentioned a few times in this topic, I instantly start to think about the amount that's already been withdrawn. - That's what I wouldn't want others to know, in case I cared about privacy in that matter.

I can't say why the amount is showing, I can't say that I care about it either, but I would say, that it should be optional, especially since others seem to like the thought of having this set on "private" so to speak. - So a good idea would be to create an official feature request, like Mike already stated above.

ok,. well,.maybe it should be mad OPTIONAL, incase some persons dont mind it being displayed on their frontpage and every other page they visit on seoclerks
As for the HACK issue, it will surely be extremely difficult for any fraudster to do that because of the level of security in place like the second password and others but i just hope every seller has activated it for better security. As for creating an officail feature request,...hmmmm,.maybe not now,.maybe much later in future.

I like seeing how much money I have in the right upper corner. However, I can see how for some it is a cause of concern. If I was in a public space such as a coffee shop or even a restaurant and I decided to work, i probably would want to hide that balance from other prying eyes myself. Mostly at times I am at home so I do not need to hide it from others as usually i am the only here unless it's a friend or something.

A quick fix, which i wouldn't really reccomend unless you know what you're doing is installing Ad Block Plus and then installing the element blocker and then blocking the entire ID from showing, for instance:

seoclerk.com##.balanceAmount

You can add this to your AdBlock Plus filter if you wish, and this would stop prying eyes from seeing how much money you have currently earned.

Another method would be to program a function to hide the balance that could be toggled via the settings page. However, i'm unsure if this suggestion has much interest for Jordan to do this but it won't be too hard to accomplish, would probably take less than 5 minutes really.

I think chetaseo is right! I wouldn't mind if my actual balance would be hidden somewhere because not all of us are full-time home based freelancers. Maybe I don't really want people at work checking out my balance every time they pass beside me. Hell, from a legal point of view I not even allowed to stay on SC while I am at work, having that balance there will make it clear for some people that I'm on a freelance marketplace trying to make money.

As Everett suggested (although I assure you even if you make a mistake you can simply undo the changes in so many ways...), if you're using Firefox, first install the AdBlock Plus extension and then the Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus extension. Then just do the thing I'm doing in the GIF below and the amount itself in the corner won't appear in the corner on any page (home page, sales page, etc.)

It makes my life a lot more easier Boring big banner ? GONE. Some stupid useless news feed because of which you have to scroll down each time just to read the top news ? GONE. Be aware that not each element could be removed as you would like to Not to mention those websites which rename the objects because of which they may pop-up again
