What's up with the new instagram update? Has it been beneficial for promotion?

Ok so we all know now about the newest instagram update. This update was very similar to how the snapchat app works. I know some people were not thrilled about the new change because it was exactly like snapchat.

But the big question here is, although some people did not like it, there are quite a few people that do like it and use it everyday...so with that being said, has this new instagram update improved or increased any visual exposure for any of your clients or even yourself?

Do you guys like this new update?
Has this new update been beneficial for you or your clients? How?
Was this a good or bad thing for Instagram to try?

The new update by Instagram was basically a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of update lol What

As we all know, at least I think we do, Facebook owns Instagram. Facebook actually had a few apps come out to compete with snapchat. I don't remember the names of them off the top of my head, but I know they were basically taking a picture and it was last a certain amount of time... just like snapchat. Facebook was just like "Snapchat is doing it right so lets copy them but make the code slightly different in a way to make it unique enough not to get sued" and then facebook got sued by Instagram What I highly doubt Instagram will win the lawsuit since there was not copyrights or trademarks on taking pictures and having them "get lost" after a certain amount of time. Instagram will probably just have to bite the bullet on this one and accept defeat. I'm sure they won't die out, but they definitely are one step behind facebok now What

I've use the new feature a couple times after it was launched for myself, not for my company, and it does feel just like Snapchat lol. It feels like a carbon copy with different images. The system works the same way and your stories last 24 hours. I don't remember if you can set the amount of time for the stories to last because I didn't get into it that much.

From a business perspective I think it's a great move by facebook, if they can stay away from more lawsuits. They basically cloned snapchat with one new feature and that just shows how simple snapchat is. If you can be copied by a company just adding a new feature to their service, you're not advancing much.

Yes that is so true, there is no place for advancement if you are just copying other programs and changing them just a little bit. Its not orignal if the idea/ program was already out there.

I had no idea facebook bought instagram. I have not used the new feature yet and not sure if i will. Lol Thanks for the feedback, Razzy!

I have never tried Snapchat or Instagram yet but I have been following some of the discussions regarding what is going on.

I personally don't see what the appeal is in having a post disappear in 24 hours? I want as many people as possible to see my content so the longer it is there the better.

But then again I guess if you look at the way that social media works now, things move so quickly that if someone hasn't seen your content within the first 24 hours chances are they wont see it anyway.

Not much of an Instagram user but did did notice some changes last few times I used Instragram.

I still think Instagram has crappy photo filters though. Check an app called "Prisma" - well those are some real nice filters! Instagram should learn a thing or two from those guys, maybe it should buy them.
