Google Plus is a dying social network?

Let's chat about Google plus!

So I have heard that Google Plus is an essential social network to be a part of. The reason is that it is Google so sharing your content can help with ranking your website.

Ok that makes sense to me so when I publish new content on my websites I always share it on Google Plus.

However other than that I have found Google Plus to be quite boring to be honest. I just get the feel that there is not much happening there. The feeling is that people are there because they have to be, because it is Google. They aren't there because they love Google Plus.

What are your thoughts?

I personally have same feeling as you. It's kind of boring to me too and i don't have much followers on Google Plus because i didn't pay a lot of attention to it. But i regularly post my contents and affiliate links on Google Plus just because i noted nice boost in Google search if you often post something there. I guess, things get indexed faster. And it probably make sense, because Google want to boost their social network. As much i feel and i can see, most of other people doing same thing, i never noted so much socializing on Google Plus, or am i wrong? However i don't think it's dying, but in other hand it's not so interesting either

Anwebservices well maybe its not exactly dying but it never really took off perhaps? Yes I find there is just nothing exciting about it and I don't feel a pull to be there. When I log into Facebook to post something or to check my business pages for notifications I am ALWAYS sucked into something there. It may just be one post I click on and check out, or a new picture of my nephew overseas... but I always look at something. When I log into Google Plus I log in, post what I need to post and close it. Nothing ever catches my eye and shouts CLICK ME like happens to me on most social media.

Hi Lynne thanks for your question. No doubt about that G+ is the one of best social network nowadays. I do not think g+ as essential part of website. If I compare with Facebook, Google+ much better effective for traffic flow. Somebody thinking Google+ working for SEO result. Though by this point has so many debate. I do not think so, g+ will affect for search result. I take it is as a part of social media like other. Google will not count what you share on there. So, you can share anything for getting some instant traffic. But, do not forget, if you share your site link much more on G+, Google may restricted you.

You described what I have always thought about Google Plus very well Lynne. I have never used it that much because for starters I do not like its layout, and I feel it is too boring. It would be a great if they would come up with some sort of revamp to make it look more interesting and maybe add something to it to encourage people to use it more.

Yes Google Plus is just plain boring. The only reason people use it is because it is Google. If it wasn't owned by Google I doubt it would have gone anywhere at all.

When Google+ first came out, a lot of people were saying "Oh Google is trying to profit off the social networking trend.". Which is a bit true, they tried to take on Twitter, and Facebook and ultimately failed in the end. I'm not too certain if they would ever close doors, due to inactivity, as others have mentioned here that you can help rank your website.

However, maybe sometime in the future we will all see Google+ in a new light, and start using it to it's full potential. When that day comes, I'll probably still say "Ew, Google+".Google it was a nice idea, but I'm not too certain if you should stick with social networks..

It sounds like people are just using the site cause they have to , to be honest I would not even consider it a social network I would consider it a tool , just another tool to help people out as you said rankings increase when you share on google plus and from what it sounds like that is as far as it goes, I wouldn't consider some thing that every one says is so boring a social network me personally I have never used google plus and I do not intend too sounds like some thing that go instinct like the dinosaurs

Yes Jkeyz2 that is a really good explanation. A tool as opposed to a social network! Same like I use Google Webmaster Tools to crawl my content I use Google Plus to post my new content to.

Unless G+ offer something unique and interesting for its users, I don't see a bright future for it. For long time Google is trying to get into the social networking arena, but they are not succeeding. And remember Google is the biggest thing in internet. Still they have only tasted failures to crack the social network puzzle.

Yeah you would think that they would get it right being Google and all? LOL

Honestly, I've never used Google plus as much as I would have liked to do.. I never had enough time to fully explore it. But I agree with you. Based on peoples stories regarding google plus, it sure seems like it's a dying platform.. It's sad, but on the other hand.. Now I don't have to feel that I missed out on something good. Google Plus is a dying social network?

I know that Google+ is a social network and it was poised to compete with Facebook. But I understand that they avoided a head on collision because it would be embarrassing for Google to lose to Facebook. But to say it is dying, I don’t think so. Check with Google and its users are still growing. And for all we know, it will rise steadily until the time that Google will find a way to force people into joining Google+. Now, that will be a disaster to Facebook. It’s not easy to fight a giant like Google.
