Promote other people's work but let then know you did it!

When it comes to quality content I'm not shy in sharing other people's work, especially people I admire.

It's a great way to create good quality content, don't be greedy and reluctant to link to other people in your content, it can actually improve your ranks but the best thing about this technique is that you can contact them and let them know you gave them a shutout.

They will be very grateful for this and you will probably get a backlink in return at some point. Or maybe they'll just share your article on their personal social media accounts, like twitter or facebook. So either way, traffic from social media exposure or backlinks, you win.

Have any of you tried this technique? I find it way more productive than guest blogging.

Yes I have found that linking to someone else's content and letting them know about it will at the very least get a social share from them.

I have to spend more time doing this, I just find my time very limited lately!

Hi Cristian thanks for nice posting. I never used such technique. But I like the way of posting for getting exchange backlink as like you said. I think that is good idea. And I get it one sense like, if I choose something from other people, I should try to follow what he did as way of example. And I believe anybody will not know anything and sometimes need to get idea from someone. And try to impose myself as looking I did it and never copy from someone. Yes I do agree your logic like they will share your content on social media and by the way you will get traffic.

Yes it is indeed a good idea. At the end of the day out of pure courtesy it gets to be a win win situation. You can get some backlinks with this technique as well as some new followers.

Some people are just greedy and unappreciative I do this all the time and even tell them about it and they don't just reciprocate. in fact they think they will die if they help you with that so I don't waste my time over that any more.

I have done this for the friends and also let other people know about it. So you can see that promoting may work out for them. But it's hard for people to remember you in this case. My experience is that when I help people they take it and go away on their own direction. So not helping them is the right way to do things. So it can be helpful to see how people reciprocate. Not all the time that is the logic that may work out.

I have not tried this method yet. I don't see any one link my blog post to theirs or notify me through email. So, I usually link my own posts from other sites to my blog instead

You should try that. It can be really effective to get some really good links. I have seen people promoting each others blog. And it helps out in making some really good connections. And this can be really helpful in the long run. Though some people find this methods harder. But just simple shoutout through blog can be more than enough.

Is it all right to include a link of a popular blog on your own blog? Don’t you need the permission of the popular blogger? I am just asking because it is like tagging the popular blog which in effect can give your blog a better ranking in the search engine. Correct me if I’m wrong on my idea. Anyway it is better to have the explicit permission of the popular blogger in including the link of his blog on your own blog.
