Do you view yourself as a role model?

You know in freelance, you run your own business and agendas at your own accord and when you take it upon yourself to make a living for yourself people are going to take notice. Do you feel a sense of responsibility being in that type of spotlight, when people ask for advice to help with what they got going on? Would you consider yourself a role model and if so what does it take to be a role model? Any body could have people looking up to them, but do you acknowledge them and where you stand with them. It's always good to help others, but do you feel obligated and if so why and what are some examples of times were you have led someone in the right direction? I want to know!

I really do feel like a role model for my little girl. She doesn't really know what I do, she just knows I work online, but in time I hope she knows that I bust my butt each day for her and her mother. She's pretty young right now so she doesn't really understand the concept of working. She sees her mother leave to go to work and come back 6 to 12 hours later, but she never sees me leave because I work from home. I really want to get that running hug when I walk through the door, but since I'm always home with her she doesn't do it :'( I'm not really sad about that Do you view yourself as a role model? I get to hang out with my little girl all day long Do you view yourself as a role model?

My daughter isn't really interested in what I do because she'd rather play with shopkins (horrible little toys that server no purpose besides being on the floor for me to step on). My girlfriend works at an animal hospital and has all these stories about animals that my little girl just eats up. I don't have that, I have stories about how a client of mine is complaining because I haven't increased them to #1 in the SERPs and now they want a refund for it... She doesn't understand any of that, but I'm hoping in time she'll start asking questions and want to try out some optimization techniques in the next few years lol Do you view yourself as a role model? I do know that as soon as she asks if she can try, I'm going to get her a laptop and a few hosting plans for her to play around with Do you view yourself as a role model?

that is great man it really is and you know when it comes down to it, it is the little people lol (the kids) that really look up to us the most and do not let that her lack of interested fool you man, trust me kids are like sponges they absorb every thing, you may not feel like she is not really paying attention or interest but shes young now just wait one day you wont even expect your going to get out of bed and get ready to start your work day and bam all those curious questions about daddys job will start rolling in .

Do you ever think you'll make enough working online to support your family so your wife doesn't have to work? I get questions like "Are you going to support your family with your online income?". I simply tell them "no". I feel as if since I have found a way to earn money, that if anyone needs to make money they can do what I do and find a way, and make it happen.

I also think that it's awesome you're a work a home dad. You can be there for your little girl when she needs you. That must be really amazing.

In the long run I really hope I can make enough so she doesn't have to work. I have plans for future brick and mortar type businesses, but I need to get my profits up online before I think about going offline Do you view yourself as a role model?

I have a few ideas for websites right now. I'm actually talking to a programmer and designer who I will pay full time to get a website up and running for me. I'm pretty sure I can make around $3,000 within the first month of it being live and increase it by roughly 25% a month after that Do you view yourself as a role model? I just need to get that going, but I don't want to hire just anyone and get screwed over in a month or two Do you view yourself as a role model? I actually had one guy "partner" up with me and he didn't do anything for 2 months and now I'm stuck with a domain and hosting for this new website but no code to put up.

Razzy what you are giving your girl is incredible. Most fathers just don't have the opportunity to be home with their children. I find the world still quite stuck in the stereotypical gender and family roles. Or at least in South Africa it is still very much like that, perhaps not in the rest of the world. My husband told me once he would love nothing more than to be home with the kids.

A lot of children don't have a mother or a father at home for them, they are either in day care all day long or come home to an empty home or perhaps a nanny. Some luckier kids have grandparents or another family member look after them.

Consider yourself very lucky to be able to be home for your girl. I don't know how old she is, but I can tell you from my experience a little girl's father has a VERY special place in her heart.

I am a Daddy's Girl and I always will be.

Hi jkeyz2 thanks for your nice question. I never think I am a role model for other but I can feel somebody trying to became as like me. For example: I have an office where almost 10 staffs and all are doing freelancing and they always try to know myself and want to get advice for everything and I can feel they are following my all activities. And another example: my little kids and my nephew both are following me what I am doing, what type of dress I am wearing etc. I do not know is it role model? Is such activity show role model, Yes I can say I am role model for somebody.

hey aj to be really honest with you it sounds a lot like to me that you are a role model, come on man your telling me you got a whole staff who when confused they go to you for advice , what you got to understand is a role model is a leader and from what it sounds like you got a few people following your lead and that is what it is all about , and the kids that type of role model will always be natural nephews look up to uncles as nieces look up to aunts .

Oh that is gorgeous that you have your kids and nephew copying how you dress Do you view yourself as a role model?

I get that with my daughter often. She will get up and see what I am wearing and 5 minutes later she comes out her room dressed as close to me as possible Do you view yourself as a role model?

I am pleased with myself and with my achievements but I am not the kind of person who likes to show off to others. In fact I barely ever discuss my online work with anyone, apart from my close relatives. I do not go as far as considering myself a role model to anyone. Maybe, come to think of it, I am a bit of a role model for my brother, who tried earning some money online when it felt as if he just could not find any job. He asks for my advice very often and so I guess I am a role model for him.

being a role model has nothing to do with showing off, it never has that does not go hand in hand , a role model is someone who people look up too it does not involve any thing flashy , you can keep you work to your self and still be a role model , its all about being a leader in what you do whether it is just your social life or work , your going to have those who look at you and respect what you do those people who just look up to you and appreciate you

I'm not so sure if I view myself as a role model, but I tend to think I'm some type of person whom tries to break the boundaries so to speak.

CryptoGuru
break the boundaries so to speak huh? now when you say this do you mean going out your way to help people you know going that extra mile or are you speaking in terms of your self ? either way if your putting forward any type of extra efforts trust it really is not going unnoticed there is somebody watching and paying attention and when it comes to role models some people do not realize that some one looks up to them , focus on those that display interest in what your involved those people are the ones looking up to you.

I most certainly do. Yes I know that sounds terribly like blowing my own horn... but I am a recovering alcoholic and addict. I am now nearly 8 years clean.

When I say that I stuffed up my life and I was a complete mess of a person I am not exaggerating. I used for 15 years and I did many things that I am ashamed of. I was at death's door yet here I am 8 years down the line living a normal life and being able to inspire other people to get clean.

Yes I feel a sense of responsibility. I blog about my experiences and I try and help anyone that contacts me.

I have shared this quote many a time, a few times on this website:
I Keep What I Have Only By Giving It Away

With regards to the other things I do online, well I have a website about online marketing too and I try and help others to make an income online and I also have a mommy blog.

I try and help others in most things I can. It is just a nice thing to do isn't it? And that quote stands not just for addiction but for everything in life. You get back what you send out there.

and you that is great, shoot you even have me looking up to you now theres a lot of respect for those of us that can find good even at the worst of times and in life those are the biggest role models, it takes a really strong person to face the struggles in life and bounce back and i can see clearly you are a very strong women , definitely can consider yourself a role model you have a story that can inspire so many people and that is probably the greatest accomplishment to be able to show progress in positive ways as you have. best of luck

Well I had to figure out how to turn all the ugliness into something good and I did, otherwise I might just sit in resentment and anger for what happened to me.

I think being grateful and appreciating what you do have is vital to happiness and success.

I am so glad for you Lynne. People who go through addiction problems and manage to overcome them are really awesome in my opinion as I believe it must be really hard. It is as if you are fighting with yourself and trying to be a winner despite all the pulling effects addiction has on them. You show a strength of character when you reach such a goal and keep it up. Also on another note, al your sites are truly helping different people, from mums looking for some help or tips, to those looking for ways to make money online.

Thanks Steve! Yes I think the best way to make money online with blogging is often to take money right out of the picture and focus on helping others and having fun doing what you are doing... the money will then flow from that Do you view yourself as a role model?

Thank you for your kind words!

I am a helpful person but I cannot consider myself a role model. It’s not easy to be a role model because you have to be perfect in all the things that you do and you have to be very careful with your actions. Besides, I am only a part time freelancer so I cannot speak at length about what I’m doing. But with diligence and perfection, I am always trying to be such. As my father used to say, give it your best no matter what you are doing even if your work is dirty work or hard labor because you deserve it and your employer deserves your good work.

I also don’t consider myself a role model. I have many issues in my life, which I try to deal with on a daily basis. I win some and lose some. The ones I win I do so not because I am good or know what I am doing but because I try. I think that life is a journey and no one knows what’s ahead or which path to take.I would not in any way refer to myself as a role model, despite the many instances of success I think that I have had in my life, I’m still figuring it out.
