How Do You Get A Celebrity To Promote Your Product?

We all know that advertising is key to reach people and to make sales..

If I have a product and I want youtube/twitter or instagram celebrities to promote it, how do I approach them?

Would it be sufficient to contact them directly with a proposal?

I do understand that you most likely have to pay them a huge amount of money, upfront, but if I truly believe in my product, that sort of investment should be enough to generate a ton of sales.. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I like to think that in this general area of promotion, or even sales through marketplaces that I AM the celebrity, well sort of and I'll explain later on. I don't want others to tell you how great my product or service is, or how beneficial it was to them if I am PAYING them to do so! They can fake results! A lot of celebrities are paid to LIE about products, and I don't support it.

I rather have my customers create threads, or posts on social media saying how my products have helped them, and I hope these are real people NOT being paid large sums of money. I would never pay anybody to lie for me just so I can sell a product. You too, as a business, can have celebrity status if you have a good product. Word of mouth or even many reviews on websites will get you a bit of "celebrity status" as your product is being seen by potential buyers and thousands of them.

Thank you Everett. I understand your point and I would never use fake testimonials or reviews. That's not what I'm looking for here but I do believe that, with the right product, I should be able to find the right celebrity.. And with the right celebrity, I should ultimately be able to see massive results.

However, I can't find a proper way to get in touch with let's say Kim Kardashian to promote my health product.. I would first of all, have to contact her. Then pitch my product and let her use it. After that, I'd need to wish for her review and promotion, in case I don't pay her.. So by paying her, I would be able to use her for my advertising campaigns.

let's say Kim Kardashian to promote my health product..

Kim Kardashian West is the absolute worst celebrity to use for a health product. I'm not entirely sure if she even has the wits to know what health is! I wouldn't pay her to promote anything that I was associated with.

Haha, yeah okay. I give you that, it was a bad example. But still. Something like that. Another product, another celebrity. That doesn't matter. My point is, if I paid a celebrity I would be able to use them for my advertising campaigns, and that should obviously increase my results too, in terms of sales, subscribers etc.

If you're like me, just one simple guy and not a million dollar company. How would you approach a specific celebrity if not with money? It's not as simple as sending them a message or tweet them.. :S

The product itself has to be right up their ally if you don't intend on paying them for their time. If you're promoting surf boards you're not going to want to target specific celebrities like Kim Kardasian because does she know how to surf? Probably not because it would mess up her hair How Do You Get A Celebrity To Promote Your Product? Maybe her and kanye should start surfing so they increase their chances of getting eaten by a shark.....

I've seen a lot of products and services in the non profit area that get a good celebrity following. This is due to the selflessness of the product and the person trying to push it. Celebrities are also trying to build their image and if they can publicly help you save the whales it will be good for their profile. Even if they're the nicest celebrity in the world, you'll have to give them something in return for their time. This could be money, goods or popularity. And since a lot of celebrities have a persona to build, they may go for the popularity option which is great for you because it costs nothing extra to hire them How Do You Get A Celebrity To Promote Your Product?

Building your own popularity will help convince celebrities to work with you for free. If you become the best at something that helps people, you will probably see a few celebrities willing to work with you in order to help out. Remember, they're building their image ;)

Partnering with a celebrity is a long shot because you could hurt their image even though they weren't directly with you when you messed up. If they put their name on a company and you say something defamatory towards a certain race or sexuality preference, it will hurt their image and they won't be too happy. So partnering with a celebrity is a bit more difficult, but if you can do it, it will be extremely beneficial in the long run.

Getting celebrity to promote something could be very expensive. I have seen some offers on SponsoredTweets website where celebrities selling their tweets, but it's very expensive if you not promoting over 100K worth business...

Thank you anwebservices, I do realize that it would be a huge investment to hire a celebrity for this. But, with the right product and the right celebrity, things should turn out quite well in terms of sales and subscribers. At least that's how I see it.

Do you have any examples of the costs for this? I've seen some non-celebrities asking for more than $5,000 for 1 single tweet on their twitter account, and these people have about 250,000 followers.. Which isn't too good in my opinion. I'd rather go with some super-celebrity with 10 million followers, even if I had to pay 500 times more.

I do not really think that this is something that any business person can do. It seems that only multinational and well known brands are able to forge out the money needed to pay a celebrity for an advert. Besides would it be worth it? Would you be encouraging people to buy it simply because a popular person said he or she used it? There is always the chance that they do not even like that particular celebrity, which is normal after all. So rather than inspiring them it might actually put them off. Besides as someone said above you need to see that the celebrity can be related to the particular product.

This is very true and I would not use a celebrity just for the "sake of it" so to speak. I would obviously make it clear as crystal that the celebrity really liked my product and not just pretended to do so due to the money they got.

I don't believe in fake testimonials or fake reviews at all and I would never use any of it myself. But with a celebrity having millions of followers, I can't see any negative reasons at all by using them.. At least not in case they really liked my products. I would obviously never do something like this with an ebook or a seo service for instance, as that would be doomed to fail, but if I come up with a product in, let's say the health niche. Kim Kardashian like mentioned above, would probably be a perfect match to promote my product.. That would most likely bring me thousands of sales in minutes. At least from the perspective I see this in.

I know actors and I know a person who can get me to any actors and directors in the country. However, I have never considered getting a celebrity to promote my products. If you are a friend with a celebrity, he/she may do it for free. (I can do a free promotion from an actor because I know him personally), and if you have to hire, you will need a lot of money. You launch a product in a hope that there will be crazy sales. However, if you invest in celebrity promotion and your sales did not pick as expected, you will not only lose money in manufacturing cost but also money on marketing and promoting.

If your business is quite big then having a celebrity to endorse your product is a good promotion. However, be prepared to pay a talent fee with the amount depending on the popularity of the endorser. So if you don't know any worthy celebrity then you might as well forget the idea.
