How do you determine your ideal budget for hosting? And, how do you know if a site is worth the money before investing?

Determine how much bandwidth you will need in terms of traffic. Also, decide how large your site will be. If you are only going to have a few pages on your site, you won't need much disk or storage space for your files. If your site will be a fully enabled ecommerce shopping site online, then you will need something very large in terms of storage and bandwidth. All these factors will determine how much you have to pay for hosting.

I started with a shared host at $3.95/month but my needs grew after a few year and now I am on a $25/month hosting plan.

Only you can decide if your site is generating some money then it is better to move it to a better host.
