What if you were required to keep a domain for five years?

What if all domain registrars required you to keep your domain for a minimum number of years, such as five years. What would you do? Would you stop buying domains?

Obviously, you would think much longer about each domain purchase, if you were required to keep the domain name so long. Also, there would be fewer impulse domain purchases.

It would not affect me a lot as I rarely purchase domains anymore. I would just find one really good domain and stick with it. Kind of what I'm doing right now, anyway.

The main question is why am I holding this domain name. If I am using it for myself, I will keep it for any number of years required. If I am having this domain for the purpose of selling, I will first analyze its commercial value.
