SEO can not die ever. Think this like if seo dies than how the search engines provide the ranking to the website.

Yes this is true Now a Days webmasters following the new Trends. Like

They are focusing more on Social Presence.
Social presence means not only getting likes or followers, Search engine check for engagement of your users.
It also focusing on how many of your followers are visiting your social pages regularly(I mean most often).
Most importantly who says Forum & Blog Commenting is bad for your website. Who ever is told you, he/she is misguiding you. Forum & blog commenting(Not Link Farms).

In the early days, you could rank top on Google and other search engines even if you have one done seo on your content. I once had my an article that was #1 on Google. Since the article appeared on top result, the article generated around 500 views from google every day. At that time I even did not know the word SEO.
These days I know a lot more about SEO, still it is very hard for me to get #1 position on google.
SEO relevancy will remain, but the techniques will be different.
