Matt Cutts Says There Aren't Different Algorithms

Matt Cutts says that they do not have different algorithms for different web position slots. A question was recently asked Are results in different positions ranked by different algorithms? The answer given was no, the search engine google does not reserve web result slots. Here is the video in which Matt had answered the question:

One might assume that slots are reserved for content that has been just updated. But this is not the case. The algorithms are not assigned to content that is the most unique or the freshest, nor will you find a slot that is for content that has more authority either. All content has the same luck in finding a position on the search engine as the next one.

Well this is good to know. Just because you have fresh content you can not assume that you are going to get a certain spot.
