Eventually Google will find your site, even if you don't link to it from many other sites. This is especially true on Blogger. However, Google will find your site quicker if you bother to link to it from other high quality sites. Don't forget to ping your new blog posts.

Usually, I'll link back to the new blog/site from my Google + page and within a few days it will be ranking for a long tail keyword for the new site. Google is very quick.

If the bots are already on your site, they will crawl any new material right away (and this sometimes happens with forums where they are constantly on site and never leave). As to when that new content will appear in Google search or where it appears is up to Google. For that one situation, they must have crawled it shortly after publication because a few days later, the Google + page as well as the blog post being linked to was in Google search.

If you are creating content within your website regularly then you won't get any issue as well, if you are not creating content then you have to take help of link building.

Creating a sitemap within your website would help in fast indexing too.

Also Google will find your new site, even if you don't backlink to it. At least, that is what Google says. And, I've seen it happen. Just could happen more slowly than if you took time to backlink from other sites.
