What if you rank high for a page unintentionally?

What if one of your pages is ranking high for a desired keyword, but it's not the page you want to rank? Has that happened to you?

This happened with my free movies blog where some pages would rank higher for keywords that I had not targeted as the keywords were in the tags which appeared in the side bar. The bad thing about changing the content of those pages to reflect the actual keywords ranked for was they lost ranking for those keywords :/

I would say you don't have to worry about it, until your site s moved to sandboxed or come under scanner. Until then enjoy the moment and make sure you take advantage of well placed site.

And it is beneficial for you, but you should learn from that, you should find why your site is ranking this would help you in creating other website based on your present site.

If you are ranking high from a random keyword then it is probably very low competition. You should discover why and try to relocate the process if possible.

I think that is a good fortune when your website ranks high in whatever keyword it is scoring from. What’s important is the high ranking that your website gets which means more traffic. However, I understand your concern regarding the specific keyword that is not directly related to your niche. Nevertheless, you can cultivate that angle that you can upload contents that are directly related to that keyword and see if you get more traffic or not. If the traffic goes down then it means the keyword is not the source of traffic.
