Getting a high page rank backlink from a reputable site

Here's an idea that might work for you to get a very high page rank back link from a reputable site.

Create an account and post actively on the official forum for your forum software. So for instance, if you have SMF, then you would register and post on the SMF forum site.

The same goes for MyBB and Xenforo. There is usually an official support forum for every forum software. Most will allow you to create a signature line, linking to your forum assuming it uses the same forum software.

Most of these forums will not allow you to talk about or advertise (signatures, exchange requests, etc), if you don't use the forum software they are supporting. So if you have a Xenforo forum, don't post on the MyBB forum.

Here are some official links:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/
http://community.mybb.com/
http://xenforo.com/community/

Please suggest other specific forums that allow a backlink (only high page rank), either by advertising or signature line. Or, suggest a unique way to get a backlink.

I like this idea. Where would I place my backlink on the site so that it doesn't get taken down?

You have to add some meta tags from pinterest to your website and they will give you link back to your site.

Go to a government website or educational website. If they allow you to comment on their post, do it wisely, share your website or webpage link along with your content. However, always share relevant link and informative comment, otherwise your comment may not be approved.
I once wrote an article about how to get a Visa to Nepal, I went to the official site of Foreign Affairs ministry and shared my link. I got a back link from dot gov site.

Thanks for this added information to my technical knowledge about backlinks. However, I am not a forum owner so I would resort to other sites with authority. Right now I am exploring the fertility of Yahoo Answers although it is not that easy to post there. Some other sites mentioned here like the gov sites will definitely be of help in creating quality backlinks.
