What's your idea of link spamming?

Have you ever seen (or used) link spamming on a site to get a backlink? What's your version of link spamming? For instance, what is link spam to one person might be legitimate backlinking practice to another.

My idea of link spamming is when someone leaves links within their forum post. Most times, these people give a little bit of advice and then drop a link. Sometimes, the link is relevant, other times it's just blatant advertising. If it's clearly spam, then it should be deleted as it adds no real value to the forum.

Most times, this 'helpful advice' is simply copied from another forum. And, that creates a duplicate content issue.

If they are posting and it does not make any sense. Like rambling on and it is clear that they have no idea what they are talking about. I think that if you are giving advice to others and it makes sense and goes with the post, then it is relevant.

I don't think that Link spamming is a good idea to build more link on your site. The site requires good linking neither it may be blocked by the search engine. So try to avoid link spamming and more link building.

There are many kinds of link spamming, not just signature lines, which are actually acceptable on some forums. Using a fake signature is one form of link spamming a lot of spammers use.

Ya. You are right. But if anyone is using his/her site link in signature, I don't think it is wrong.

Let’s take the marketing posts in social media because I can relate to that. When you would post about your website in Facebook very frequently then your friends may be annoyed because that is already spamming. In forums, I have seen one who is wily with his spamming that he often diverts the comment to the reference to his website and therefore the inclusion of the link appears legitimate. But when you see a lot of such posts by him then it is obvious that he is already spamming.
