Am i doing the right thing?

hi, i have a site with a relatively good traffic atleast it okay since my blog is just 5 months old, and 99% of my traffic comes from google SERP its 100% natural, most of my kep works are ranking on first page.

I was worried because i do less of link building, on alexa i saw only 51 which i didnt build so they came naturally, i saw a product here yesterday for about 165 profile backlink, i paid for it, now i am worried again if Google will notice that it is not natural and drop my keywords from first page?

You might ask why i went ahead to get links when i am okay with my traffic and been on first page for most of my keyword, yes that is because i have PR0 i was hoping to increase that.

So should i cancel the product?

how then can i increase my PR?

Thanks

Hi wasconet,

SEO is something that is never ending and it's really not possible to give you a simply yes or no answer.

The backlinks and how they will effect your current rankings will depend on the quality of the backlinks as well as their relevance to your site. From my experience 165 backlinks in the grand scheme of things is a very small amount so unless these links are very spammy it is unlikely to negatively impact you if you have such good rankings already but I of course cannot guarantee this.

Keep in mind that Google now provides the disavow tool in the Google Webmaster area. This tool can be used to disavow backlinks, stopping them from effecting your site rankings.

Cheers,
Karoshio

Well disavow tool are indeed to remove backlinks. But be aware that the huge list of canceled or removed domains is the greate tool for google to know which domains are spam domains. If huge amount of people disavow a certain domain or link, well G will consider that domain is a spam domain and every site linking from that domain are gona be filtering. That Life. So e very very carufull to use Seoclarks internationally. If you have your domain ending with *.com keep get links from that TLD do not try or avoid cross tld's. For exampel. An American site are getting links from china e.t.c Bookmarks links are also dead or almost dead after the 4 october. I get 3 sites blasted from the serp do same ip but different domains. Google assume that domains also are spam. So try to get domains and set up homepages from different ip numbers to minimum penelty.

In many forum this last G update rendering miljon of webmasters and siteowners possibility to make Money on internet. Soon its time to use bing insteed. :-)

To someone? Hehe. To all of us. its a only tool to clean your site from bad links. If you contact webmasters or siteowners and request from them to remove your link and they do not want it, just tell them you will disavow shitty links and webmaster can not igonore that becuse risk of theirs sites are blacklisted on Google. So tell the ultimate give the siteowners 1 week to clear your links, then you go. :-)

Hi wasconet,

If the profile package was a mix of nofollow & follow links and are from sites that are in good standing with Google, your site should be fine. If you want to be safe, wait for the ranking to settle down, go to your google webmaster disavow page , analise the quality of the links recieved and remove the ones considered spammy by Google.

As for the increasing the PR, go for quality long articles, mix them with pictures, videos, infographics and so on.
Invite authority speakers from you niche to write on your site, create a podcast or even better, create a radio, interview some top personality from your niche & transcript the interview to post on your site.

This and many other little tricks will boost your PR but bare in mind that PR can be assign to the domain and page and more often than not they are not equal.

Hope that help you, let me know if you have any further questions

its seams that Google only increase or decrease PR internally. Not official any longer. So the best approach will be to get links from pages with high trust, only.

It´s complicated...
If your planning only to use dofollow links think again because in the eyes of Google its spamy and smells unatural miles away. Page rank is the combination of many factors including the quantity & quality of your links and most importantly, the internal link structure of your site. For any PR to be sustainable You need to create a Silo structure on your site and divide the quantity of links througout your pages.

What is a Silo page structure?
A Silo consists of several pages linking to each others. Starting with hardest keyword to rank at the top of your Silo, that keyword/page will link to other keywords/pages on the level bellow and those keywords will link to another set of pages/keywords that in turn will link back to your MAIN keyword

Something like this:
  • gold links to gold bars
  • gold bars links to gold coins
  • gold coins that links back to gold

When you start you link building, you will split the amount of links between your keywords in different amounts so 100 links total will be spread into :
  • 50 links pointing to your gold keyword
  • The remaining link quantity divided amoung the other keywords.

You can read more about the PageRank here - this is not my site and I am not in any way affiliated with the owner

but still Matts Cutts almost confirmed that Pagerank will not be official viewed or increased or updated. Pagerank would only be baked in internally inside the google algoritm in the future. This action is taken to stop link buying.

I couldn´t care less about what Matt Cutts & other SEO gurus say: do this and that to avoid this and that - reminds of IF THIS THEN THAT website, LOL.
I have ranked sites over and over, some in hours and most of them hitting page one overnight using a simple technique that goes against what the gurus say Google demands us SEO´rs to do.

Seriously, I am ranking o long tail keyword for a medium competition niche. The page tha ranks has NO CONTENT whatsoever in it, nothing at all and yet that page is climbing spots and has overtaken sites with PR5.

It works every time with the correct keyword research...every time.

Be very very careful using the disavow tool. It can hurt you if you have not made a serious attempt to have the links removed by contacting the webmaster first. Google's Eric Kuan said "The disavow backlinks tool should be used with caution since it can potentially harm your site's performance." I've seen far too many SEO experts disregard the Google advice and get burned. Keep a complete record of your efforts to have spammy links removed - this will be invaluable when you go to Google for reconsideration.

There is an old saying that goes like why fix it if it isn’t broke? If your site is getting a good number of traffic then just continue with what you are doing. The SEO work that you have done must be the cause of that amount of traffic and if you will change the activity then it is just fine if the traffic increases but what if the traffic decreases? If I were you, I will persevere with the natural means of getting traffic and that is the manual process of SEO.

I second your comments.

Not sure what the post originator has decided but based on everybody's comments it seems it's best if you “keep it real”. In other words, if your site just got started and you are already getting good traffic and it's natural or "organic", keep it that way. Don't get greedy! You might mess up a good thing. Besides that Google is always changing stuff up. How does anybody ever know if they're doing the right thing? (O.o)
