Google started Penalizing press releases And Link Sharing

Last day I'm surfing on a website for getting some more information about "SEO" and there i seen Google's new policy update and according to them all links added in footer of template or sidebar must be No-Follow (If you add a do-follow link your site will be punished), This is really bad news for web designers and template designers because now they are not allowed to add their website link in the footer section.

You can check Google's new Link Scheme : HERE

In brief check the below screenshot so that you can easily understand :

Here at SEOClerks many user providing backlinks and most of the links are added in sidebar so according to me you have to say No to these backlinks otherwise your site will be punished.

Don't forget to share your thoughts about this update from Google.

Yes, Google doesn't like links that you do yourself, it should be natural for better result I would say.

I do not understand why they would do this. Why is it not ok to get backlinks?

Though this post is dated several years back, the link supplied was very informative to me. I was happy to see that my ignorance had protected me and that I have not been violating Google's policy. What I really like is that the link leads to other important information and guidelines about a wide range of topics. Thanks.
