Both updates are designed to improved the search engine results quality. With Panda content farms websites lost a lot of ground, with penguin sites that use blackhat and other spam related SEO methods will suffer.

That was the intention to make content farms suffer in search engine placement. Unfortunately, some good sites like Hubpages also suffered as they feature a variety of articles (hubs) on various subjects. Other sites like ehow which had both good and bad quality articles suffered and thankfully so. I think the site is better now after Panda, they have cleaned up their quality requirements for article submissions.

Aren't hubpages became content farms or a medium of blackhat SEO techniques to some?

Hubpages got heavily penalized but cleaned up their act by tigthening quality standards of hubs. Now only really good hubs last, most others are reported as spam quickly.

How about your hubpage? Does it get affected?

Mostly, my ehow pages were affected. For awhile every article site that i published on was affected in search engine rankings. Even though I never illegally linked back from sites through spam methods nor did i publish low quality hubs. Just over all the big article sites were affected, not just individual hubs. For a very long time it was hard to find HubPages or ehow on top searches for popular keywords. Both sites are rebounding now.

I still find eHow on the first page on a few "how to" queries I used on Google not too long ago.
Maybe some keywords are not affected by this crackdown...

It's been well over a year since that happened. During that first year it was hard to find ehow anywhere on the first page of any search result. Now they've cleaned up their site and are ranking well again. With SEO, you change with the times or get left behind. And, they changed, just as Hubpages and the other surviving article directories did.

Google Panda, is all about website content quality ...and google penguin is related to quality links..if your site has poor quality content or duplicate content then google penalize this algorithm is Panda. if your site is over optimized, has poor quality backlinks..got all links with same keywords then as per google Penguin algorithm your site will be penalized.

So there's a thing called "over optimized"?

From all i've heard, there is such a thing as over optimization. I'll have to do more research as to what it entails though.

What's the result of over optimization? Getting banned from search engines? Lower in rankings?
Or getting dubbed as a "blackhat technique user"?

Does these updates brings disadvantage to users? I mean, if it brought good things to the internet users, what are the bad things that it bring?

Possibly loss of ranking in Google. It doesn't happen right away as Google doesn't want to alert the blackhat user that they've been caught.
