    Did you always want to be a writer?

    I always wanted to be a writer, since I was seven years old. I always loved writing convoluted fiction stories and started writing/editing articles in my teens. I would take the articles in magazines like Rolling Stone and rework them for practice. That was before I had access to the internet. Now, I'm so happy to be a paid writer, it's one of my dreams come true. Did you always want to be a writer?

    Greetings!!

    As a child I wrote journals, stories and especially poems. I loved writing poems! My Great Uncle would say to me throughout the years "You should write. You NEED to write. Become a Writer!" I didn't really pay much attention to him as I honestly didn't think I was a good writer. I didn't have the confidence in myself to really believe in what he kept telling me.Why would people want to read my thoughts, feelings, stories, and so on? Wow! Was I ever wrong! I was astonished to learn how much the outside world wanted to read my writing.

    I only started getting paid to write a couple of years ago, and I keep it as part time work. I wouldn't want it to become full time/over time, as I want to keep the enjoyment going with my writing. I wouldn't want it to ever feel like a job. This is one of the many ways I learn to cope with life, and to allow myself to get as creative and as detailed as I wish. I just let my brain go with my fingertips, then once it's done, that's when I make sense of it...lol

    I discovered a writer in me when I was 20. I began writing my daily journal when I was fourteen soon my diary became a platform to express my thoughts on various topics. My diary entires became essays, stories and poems. I published my poetry book when I was 21. When people praised my poems, I decided that I will become a writer. I did not know I could actually make my living as a writer until I was 26.

    I loved writing fiction back when I was a kid. I was a contributor to my yearbook for a couple of years. After that, I got promoted to being an editor. Being an editor was great but I preferred to write. I was glad that I learned many different modules at university which allowed me to be exposed to a variety of subjects. Otherwise, I would have regressed as a writer since you cannot do much creative writing as an engineer. I always knew that I would turn to writing as a freelancer.

    It's ironic that I hated writing when I was in grade school until high school. But I have mellowed when I entered college maybe because of the influence of some friends who were also my classmates then. When I started work, I had to learn how to like writing because it is part of my job as a methods analyst. I had to write long procedures, project descriptions, and some other write ups in the office. And now I am in the internet to improve my writing skills. Maybe I cannot say that I really wanted to be a writer and I still don't like to be a writer although it seems that my direction is towards that - to be a writer.

    The drive to write has been to me while I was a kid for I use my spare time to write stories when others are outside playing and that is as a result of the fact that I feel okay writing. So, when I grew up, that fire to write kept burning in me that I write more on social media then.
