Your biggest work distraction?

My friends are always coming around the house and distracting me to keep me from working. I don't know if they are doing it on purpose, but it makes things hard on me as I'm always getting behind.

What are your biggest work distractions or what is keeping you from finishing work?

Lock the door, turn off your phone, plug in your earphones and get to work.

Your friends don't have to pay your bills when they come do. But you will! Make sure you have the money for that as they won't be lending you money.

Maybe your friends mean well, but they don't realize you are working at the time.

You can always get a different number for work than business and then keep your personal cell off during work hours.

They will get the idea soon.

Skype is one of the biggest distractions for me. I use it as part of my work but only have one account, so I keep both friends and business associates on that one list.

If I have my Skype up for my clients to message me with details, then friends who are added try to message me. They wrap me up in an hours long conversation and before I know where time went, my work day is over and the client is demanding to see results that I don't have to show.

I don't even have Skype open while working, for good reason. I don't use it as part of my work, so it's not like I'm messaging anyone for work related subjects. And, if I'm making a video for a client and someone messages me on Skype, then the sound registers and records in my video and I have to start over. The client would not be happy about Skype notifications sounding in the background of their video.

Another distraction is the Facebook and social networking sites. Though I use facebook to promote my services but there are many distractions as well. You know what I am talking about.

to me , i dont have any serious distraction. i always remain focus on what i do and discipline myself. mercylove, what you can do is tell your friends you are not around when they want to come and that you are busy. control them, not them controlling you. limit thier visit.

This sounds like a very peaceful way to work, though I would suffer from eye strain very quickly if I did not work with the lights on. Doesn't that happen to you?

Little things in real life distract me or make me get off track so that I can't finish my studies or assignments. Staying focused is one of my greatest challenges. I don't like having to be late on assignments or having complaints, but it happens.

There's nothing wrong with taking time to replenish your spirit, especially after you have been working so hard.

In time, you will have relaxed enough to regenerate your body and you will naturally crave to work again. Your biggest work distraction?

My youngest teenage son is my biggest distraction! He's a tech head like I am, and should just one of us bring up the latest news about any tech site or gadget, we're off and running our mouths for hours!! Only recently have I banned him from talking to me during work hours. Your biggest work distraction?

It's best not to get sidetracked or behind on your work. For every hour or day you get behind on work, that is more you will have to do the next day. And, then at some point, the work has mounted up so much you have too much to do. Your biggest work distraction?

Aside from personal problems that appear from time to time, I'd say that dogs barking is one distraction that ruins my concentration. We have 3 dogs so you can imagine the racket that their barking creates. Our dogs are normally quiet but when they sense someone near our gate, be it a person or animal, they will bark for sure. When the door bell rings, it's suddenly chaotic that I have to stop working.
