There is no alternative to YouTube and Vimeo.
If Facebook starts a video engine separately, it will definitely give them a fight.

Hope Facebook take videos seriously.

I agree on top of agree. Actually, I would drop off Vimeo. So far there is no real alternative to YouTube.

  • Vimeo and Daily Motion are OK. But in my mind, they are not an alternative.
  • I hear people talking up Twitch. Eh!
  • As for Facebook? I'd be surprised if Zuckerberg seriously invested in videos.

I think Vimeo and Twitch seems to be the only alternative to YouTube. You can see that facebook is getting into videos. But not a lot of people are making much out of the youtube videos. So it all depends how you make use of the youtube content. I have seen some of the time facebook videos as reaching more and more people. But there are not many ads out there. I guess one has to look at how the conversion happens.

We are looking for an alternative to Youtube because of the recent policy on monetization. Where before our videos are earning, now we are required to have at least 1,000 subscribers and a certain number of viewing hours. We have checked on Vimeo but it has no monetization. In short, what we are looking for is a depository of videos that share in the revenue from the ads just like Youtube. Kindly post in this discussion if you know of one website that can compete with Youtube in the revenue sharing.

Recently, someone told me that you can monetize videos on Vimeo as well as daily motion. However, I cannot verify this because I have not checked these sites myself. I also hear that facebook is trying to launch monetization program for shared videos. I also cananot verify whether this is true or false.
