The Freelancer's Bedroom Office

Some freelancers choose the bedroom as an office, others use the kitchen table or lounge on the couch with laptop to get work done. But, where you choose to do work can influence how productive you are and how much work gets accomplished. If you are working in a noisy room with TV or loud music, you will likely get distracted. Or, if you station yourself at the kitchen table, while others are busy trying to prepare dinner in the same room, then you will always be moving to accomodate the other person. What's your quiet place in the house, where you get work done? Which place allows you to work freely without interruptions and yet still get the most work done with your time?

They say you should never put your freelance office in the bedroom as it will just lead to laziness. However, the bedroom is often the only private place you can work without being distributed by family or other activities going on in your house. The key is to find private parts of the house where you will be allowed to work and then actually get down to work to finish up all your projects.

If you are sharing the bedroom with your spouse or partner, you may not find this to be a good arrangement as they are likely to be watching TV or trying to sleep as you tap away on the keyboard.

Any room where you can get work done will be good for a home office. Unfortunately, you will likely want to lounge around if you put your home office in a bedroom.

I will work in any room or place that is available. So long as there is a free space, I can get work done. I don't like noisy rooms though, they break my concentration.

I have an office that I work in. I like it because all my stuff is stored there and I am able to go and close the door and then others know that I am working.

I work on my laptop and take that into the bedroom or use it in the living room. A rotating office if you will.

I work in my bedroom. I have a Japanese table (table with short legs) where I place my laptop the table and sit on a cushion in a cross leg position. This is the most comfortable working position for me. When i sit cross leg, my back will be stretched and there will be no more back problem.
MY bedroom is my office as well as a study. I not only work in my bedroom but also have set up a small library. I also have a kitchenette in my bedroom where I make my coffee and snacks.

We have a desktop in the corner of the living room. But using it would prevent people from watching the tv. I often use my laptop in the dining table which is very convenient since there is a socket where I can charge the laptop while using. But the desktop is more comfortable for me and I tend to use it when there is lots of work to do.
