You can find your own customers but sometimes if you join a site you will reach a bigger audience. and like on SEOClerks, you are more protected when you have an account there.

Sometimes like Angie has stated these sites will protect you and advocate for you when the client does wrong.

There are lots of advantages to joining SEOClerks. For one, you can build a customer base. These people will usually choose to come back to you if you do a good job and perform high quality work. Also, you are guaranteed to get paid and you won't get scammed on work as you might if you were working alone.

For me, building a customer base is important for a freelancer. Just like any business, freelancing also depends on clients. In this site, you may not be guaranteed to get good customers but at least you can get enough information about a potential customer.

The site where you list your services will help you earn money by bringing customers to the site. That way you earn without spending money on marketing expenses as you would working independently.

You are a freelancer, how will you find customers. Do you go to a library and ask everyone whether they want someone to work for them? Do you thinks this is possible?
Likewise do you search on Google "I am freelancer, give me work."
These are nonsense ideas. You have to join forums where there is a discussion on freelancing, you have to join freelance sites and create a listing or apply on jobs.

I agree that a forum is one good place for a freelancer to join. My main line in freelancing is forum posting and that’s where I met some writer friends. There are times that I get job offers because of my exposure in forums. Most of the time, I get invitations from writer friends about a good site, not necessarily a forum. Perhaps I have established my brand already in forums and it helps me in my freelancing.

I have been posting on forums since 2015. I started on forums after the Bubblews collapsed. I was earning around $450 every month on Bubblews. In the last few years, forum posting has helped me to manage my expenses. There was a time when I was earning around $180 per month just by posting on forums.
