    Favorite forum members

    Do you have a few favorite forum members that are more like friends or family? Do you favorite these people by allowing them to bend the rules or catering to those people on your forum?

    No one should ever favor just a few forum members as this leads to grudges and hard feelings with other less favored forum members. If you let one person break the rules, then it does a huge disservice to the others who are abiding by the rules. In other words, don't play favorites.

    That sounds really unfair and if you are doing this on your forum, just to keep your 'friends' close to you on forum, then you are cheating the rest of the community in a big way. All forum members need to be made to comply with the same rules, whether that's for on forum conduct.

    You could have your friends on forum and even give them special attention, such as talking with them more. And, I don't see anything wrong with that. There's no reason to think your friends will misbehave or ask for perks such as right to troll or misbehave on forum.

    Maybe it's all right to play favorites in the community but your favoritism should be kept to yourself. It's not healthy to show your bias and prejudice in the forum for it can affect the community. I left one local forum because of the extreme closeness of some members with the mods that I felt like an outcast. A community should be like a real society that is democratic and with fairness.
