    What's the main purpose of a forum?

    Do you use forums to learn or gain advice? Do you use forums for advertising? What is your motive or main reason for using a forum?

    I like to read over forums to find out new ways to blog or manage a forum. The fact that I can sometimes advertise on a signature line is secondary.

    For me, a forum is one way of learning. Take for instance a technical forum, that’s where I get information on new gadgets, storage media, and computers. Aside from taking, I can also share information particularly my experiences in life. But I have to admit that my main purpose in joining forums is to prepare myself for an occupation when I retire from my office job. What will I do then? The internet is fertile with all kinds of occupation, from leisure up to earning livelihood. That will materialize 5 years from now.
