How much does Google +1 help versus Facebook likes?

Does google give better ranking to sites with more +1 votes? I would think they really want to push G+ down our throats and force us to get +1's on our sites to rank well as a means to try to make G+ more popular (even though it will just end up more spammy). Has anyone done any tests or reading regarding how much weight Google puts on the different kinds of social signals?

Yes Google gives more wight to your site importance and immediately raises your ranking, I know this from experience with using  Google webmaster tools if you have a website get a G+ page and connect your site url to it with html. Your site will blow out anyones in Google search and you just might get a feature which is extra information to the right of your search. it shows up like Wikipedia pages do.

I'm going to try this method out - didn't even know G+ had "pages" just like facebook. But I can see how/why they would want to put more weight on their own stuff.

Every celebrity has one so their PR team feels its a plus, also they verify you as official whatever your brand or business is. Like on twitter.
Yes, trying them is a exellent seo move.

Awesome, yeah I am creating one now, let's see what effect it has on my SERPs. I assume it's also good to try to get as many +1's on the posts just like Facebook likes.

Plus Ones versus Likes. Excellent question and livewirerecords has already given you a very good answer. No need for me add anything about getting a +1.

But I do have something to add to this discussion since pages were mentioned.

Creating the Google Plus page is very easy. Like
livewirerecords said, a neat trick is to connect it to your website and get it verified. If you can get a custom URL that's even better.

Another good idea is to take advantage of the G+ Collections feature. It's just a way of organizing your posts to make it easier for people to comb through them. It very similar to Pinterest pinboards. The G+ page (or brand account) is easy to create. The G+ Collections are also easy to create. Believe me, Google didn't make anything hard. So non-geek people can go the DIY route and enhance and improve their online presence and reputation.

Here's what the real plus is about creating Google Plus Collections. Sometimes people won't follow your page but they will follow a particular topic (or collection) that interests them. I have a foodie page connected to my affiliate marketing website. I've been trying to get followers for ages. I set a goal to reach a 1000 followers and have never reached that goal. But I created a Pizza collection and it has over 45000 followers. Fine with me! I can post my website and blog links in the collection, and hopefully, give the sites more exposure and redirect traffic to those sites.

I have read in several discussions about the bias of Google on their own departments like Blogger over Wordpress. And now the issue is Google+ against Facebook. Hands down, Facebook is far superior than Google+ in terms of users and usage. Sadly for Google+, the efforts to push it to the forefront failed miserably so I am guessing that perhaps there is a high probability that Google is giving its Google+ more points than Facebook engagements.
