    Basically, Google uses Penguin to block all the blackhat ways of doing SEO. So the PR Backlinks you see all over the place? Penguin fights against all that. It also makes it very hard for people to use even LEGAL and legitimate methods to do Search Engine Optimization. Google Penguin is like a giant stick with a very pointy end, going STRAIGHT up your A.s.s what is google penguin update ??

    It's to fight against low quality spammy backlinks. So the PR backlinks he's talking about above is nonsence. As long as the links are good quality and you diversify your backlinks so it all looks natural then you'll be safe!

    Hey djrizz, Google penguin is basically a filter that is aimed at removing or decreasing the rankings of the websites that don't adhere to the Google's guidelines. It removes the websites that might be spammed or are not following the regulations laid down by Google.

    If the Google Penguin update is all about the so called black hat then I guess there is nothing to worry about if you are doing legitimate SEO work on your site. There are talks that your site can be blacklisted by Google if you have been stuffing keywords in your contents but I don’t think there is an official declaration about that. The same with excessive backlink building there is a warning but again there is no proof from Google that it is tantamount to being sanctioned.
