Brand yourself as a success and target local businesses

When you start off online you will be a nobody and businesses will not want to work with you.  An easy way to solve this is to brand yourself as an authority and use your "Press" as a way to sell to the potential clients and show them you know what you're doing.  It doesn't matter if you put a little article on Buzzfeed, buy a post on HuffPost or Forbes, just post something positive about you and your skills on a website that is well known and you will close a lot more deals.

People want to know that you're the best in the industry and you're contacting them to do some work and HELP them out.  You can't come off as a money-hungry newbie who doesn't know what they're doing, that never works lol.

Below I've gone over a few ways to brand yourself quickly and increase the number of sales you get each month.

High Authority Websites
Like I mentioned above, get noticed or post on high authority websites, and you will be able to use that in your pitch to other businesses you want to work with.  If you don't have anything on a high authority news websites already, buy something and write the article yourself.  Don't make it too pitchy, write it as more of an unbiased review, and show your potential clients a link to it when finished.

Get Your Initial Reviews
You're new to the game so you don't have many clients or any for that matter, so it's almost impossible to gain positive reviews.  What you'll need to do is give a link to your GMB page, or whatever page you want reviews on, to your friends and family members and ask if they could review your business/website.

Most of the people you contact will say "SURE!" but then you won't see anything pop up from them.  This is why you need to ask people you know you can trust and will definitely help you out.  You can even ask business partners and colleagues to leave reviews for you if they can!  The more positive reviews you get, the more social proof you have, and the easier it will be to close on a client.

Chamber of Commerce Listings
Don't know where to find all the local businesses other than going up and down the main street looking in the windows?  Go to your chamber of commerce website and look through their listings.  They won't always have links to the businesses website but you can do a quick search online and find them easily.

You'll save time, gas, and fatigue if you do it this way.  Contact a couple of hundred businesses in your town or area and see who bites!

Offer Local Discounts
Since you're a local SEO or Service provider you can offer "local discounts" because you want to help build up the area as much as possible.  If you offer discounts it will look like you're more loyal to businesses within your area, but they don't have to know they were one of the first companies you targeted lol.

Always Follow Up
You may get a "No thank you" or "Not right now" but that doesn't mean you should give up!  Keep the information of those businesses and call them back in a few months.  If they still say no, keep their information and call then in 6 months lol.

Be persistent and you'd be amazed at how often people decide to give you a chance.

Final Thoughts,
It's not easy to get clients on board if you're a nobody in your industry and that's why you need to show them you are a somebody even if it's not 100% true right away.  Post positive information about yourself online and see how many businesses turn into life long customers lol Brand yourself as a success and target local businesses
