It’s YouTube all the way. Facebook is losing market fast.Unless your target audience exclusively hangs out on Facebook, I suggest putting your videos on YouTube for wider reach.

Why not put YouTube videos on Facebook?

Because Facebook is playing favorites, that’s why. Put a YouTube video there and they’ll give you a tiny thumbnail for it. Compare that to the thumbnail for Facebook’s own videos that are about 6 times bigger.

A better option for putting YouTube videos on Facebook is to take a screenshot of the video and link the image to your YouTube videos.

Facebook prioritizes their native videos, which I think is a fair thing for them to do. Twitter does the same thing. Take a look at it this way: YouTube doesn't even allow you to share Facebook videos on their platform. So you could say at least facebook lets you share youtube videos on their platform.

It might be an extra step or two, but I think it's more about figuring out how to leverage each platform to perform the best in its own way. According to Statista, Facebook usership has yet to see a noticeable decline, and the chances of videos going viral and having immense reach through their platform is still a very viable option.

I would recommend uploading the video to both platforms. This will give it the best possible reach through facebook (since their native videos autoplay) while also keeping it on YouTube as well.

Companies and their competition, always affecting the end user... Reminds me about how Paypal unlinked from Amazon and Payoneer...

Even though video monetization is available for facebook videos, it is still in initial phase. Therefore, until now youtube is the better place if you want to earn from videos. However, if you want to do video marketing, I believe facebook is a better place. By publishing videos on facebook, you can boost your video and reach wide audience, this kind of feature is not available on youtube.

I think YouTube is a better platform than Facebook since the two have their primary function. Which YouTube is mostly a platform for video sharing than Facebook. Anyone that needs to see a video or wanr to upload one goes straight to YouTube. So it better to use a well known platform for video sharing like YouTube than Facebook.

Oh man, you just had to bring up these day? Why it couldn't be Twitter VS YouTube, or VK vs Facebook... Oh well, guess I'll go for YouTube, because overall I spend more time on it. But Facebook is an important tool in my life and business as well.

Facebook has one of the worst video players ever. Of course youtube is the superior video-sharing website (I don't like how it has a monopoly on the video-sharing industry though). It's the main reason why youtube is the largest video-sharing website.

I agree. Besides, since YouTube is mainly for video sharing and viewing, it can offer you better watching video experience since it has a better user interface than Facebook. We can skip in a tap, fast forward by double tapping the right side part of the video, we have options on the video quality and even for turning on or off the subtitles.

YouTube. They're the ones who started it all. You can find anything on there from recent news, tutorials, entertainment, everything. It's practically more like a search engine to me rather than a video sharing site. Now, they have included messaging too which is a neat addition to the platform.

I don't see Facebook as a video-sharing site so I'm going with YouTube with this one but they work well together, you can always share your YouTube video to your Facebook account or page because posting videos alone won't get you viewers especially if you're trying to build an audience.

Just like on youtube, you can also upload your original video on facebook. Monetization is still a work in progress on facebook, however, if you want to get started with video marketing, facebook is a better place. By using boost feature you can reach wide audience. Just a $1 campaign can help you reach at least 8k facebook users.

In terms of communication I would personally choose Facebook. In terms of videos, I will have YouTube as my best pick. Both application plays a different role which means that one feature stand out from each other.

You are right. They serve different purposes and they excel at it. But, if I would be asked to choose between the two that I could use the whole day, I'll go with YouTube.

If videos are your priority then definitely it's YouTube. Facebook videos often times get lost under all your other posts. While YouTube makes it easier to find your videos since they'll be compiled nicely. Besides, Facebook updates so much you'll never know how it's going to affect your videos in the future.

I prefer YouTube more than Facebook. Well, compared to what you see on Facebook, YouTube has a lot more interesting content.

I agree with you. Facebook are great when it comes to communication and some advertisements and promotions. However, when it comes to videos sharing, entertainment, tutorial videos and a lot more of interesting content I go with YouTube.

Facebook seems more like a personal archive than a repository of videos. I prefer youtube because it's known as a video sharing platform, and a lot of creators are already establishing themselves in it. The number of videos already present there is staggering, and it's likely even impossible to go through them all already in a normal lifetime.

It's easier to get a video to become viral on facebook though, in my opinion.

They are used for different purposes. Facebook is for connecting with friends and family while YouTube is to show a skill, give tips and tricks, etc. I much prefer YouTube cos I've learnt so much from videos I watched there and there are always interesting videos to see

If you want to earn from your videos then youtube can be better. Facebook videos are not paying as of now. People who may get paid from facebook are usually pre paid and not the gamers. Another way the social media live streaming may work is through twitch and live.fm. You may want to check out those resources for the earning. I'd say twitch is the future based on how high people are earning. Facebook is not interested in paying you. So move to twitch and live.fm instead.

YouTube's main purpose is for videos to be viewed and shared. Unlike in Facebook, even though you can do the same as what we can do in YouTube in terms of video sharing, still, videos are not that emphasized in Facebook. Besides, if you want to have higher number of views, why not share you Youtube video in Facebook? You can also post your video in YouTube and at the same time in Facebook. Through this, you can have more audiences unlike posting your vid in only one platform.

I prefer YouTube than Facebook when it comes to videos. I believe that YouTube has a better concept of video sharing than Facebook. You can get a wider reach of audience in YouTube and it is more easy to search than Facebook.

I remember when the whole internet scene was getting popular, the first thing I did was join YouTube, as a teen I couldn't get myself away from the funny videos it used to have, as well as the cooking one's. I was only later introduced to Facebook, when my friends began to spend more time online than outside (sadly).

Better compare Youtube to Dailymotion or Vimeo. There are also other video platforms that are popular in its country, like Nicodouga in Japan, I don't know if they're as popular as Youtube there but certainly should generate a sense of local interest. For sharing it should always be Youtube.

Both have their own usefulness, I think that it depends upon the user's interest. For me, it is great to utilize the two platforms. You can reach different types of users by using these two. You would just differ on how you approached them.

I see that Facebook has started their video streaming service. I have not tried it out but why do I think that its going to be better than Youtube? In fact I would argue that its going to knock Youtube off its pedal stone. Getting views on your Youtube video is no joke. But with Facebook your friends and followers can watch your videos. You have a ready made audience. Its actually a genius idea from Facebook.

I think that YouTube is certainly the more popular platform for video streaming and sharing.Facebook is relatively new to the concept of video uploading and sharing. The main function of Facebook has always been Social networking .Videos is an added feature for Facebook users. YouTube on the other hand is the most popular free video streaming and sharing platform for years now.

I have heard others discussing this topic and this camp has a clear divide. There are some who put their faith in Facebook and others who say YouTube is the way to go. I'm in the YouTube for the simple reason that I can ask my kids questions on how to use it. LOL.

I think you can make money on youtube. Whereas you can get more traffic from facebook. So both are kind of important. One can't ignore either. But the thing is that you as a content creator. You have to spread your content to a larger places. And that way you can perform lot better in the longer time. That's what I have learned in the process.

facebook also has video monetization option. If you watch facebook videos, you will see a few seconds ad slot. However, I am not sure if this feature is available to all of us. For monetized videos, youtube is still the best place. However, as far as video marketing is concerned, Facebook has a better reach. Well, Youtube gets more traffic than facebook, however, when you publish videos on youtube, it will be burried under the hundreds of thoudsands videos published every day. However, on facebook you can start a paid campaign and gain exposure.

Facebook is simply better. It has practically the same things youtube does-video clips. Almost everything that is on youtube is on Facebook, too but not vice versa. Facebook is simply better because of its features, such as messaging app and the platform is more simple to use than youtube. Comment section and liking process is so much easier on Facebook.

They're both very different platforms IMO, so it's hard to say. I think both are really useful and I don't know that I'd compare either. Facebook is exceptionally helpful for networking, establishing groups, and even advertising a business or organization. Youtube is fantastic for DIY videos or educational information. I use them both very regularly.

Facebook and YouTube are very good in their own game. You have stated which field they're good at and people have their own preferences.

I think Facebook is easier to reach because they don't need to go search for your video it will automatically be posted in their timeline when people keep on sharing it. Some interested will watch and others will ignore but as long as they find it interesting they will watch the video and share it.

I believe Youtube is the better platform when it comes to video sharing because that’s the sole purpose of it. Unlike Facebook which is a social media platform, YouTube focuses mainly on the sharing of various videos. Also, I have observed that YouTube is the leading platform when it comes to videos.

When it comes to communication, Facebook is very preferable because YouTube is not built for this purpose. However, when it comes to video sharing nothing beats the legendary YouTube which was developed mainly for this purpose. Though Facebook is also a great platform to share your videos, YouTube is still the most widely used video sharing platform.

Youtube is still a better platform in video sharing than Facebook. But I don't really see the harm on using both platforms. I think it's good to upload your videos on Youtube then on Facebook. Or upload them on Youtube then promote it in Facebook. After all, both platforms have millions of communities and by utilizing both, you would garner more traffic.

I think Facebook is a better platform to use because most people use Facebook nowadays. In my country, people do not have mobile internet to view YouTube videos but we have free mobile data to open our Facebook anywhere and everywhere. Also, YouTube videos can only be discovered if a user searches another video with similar tags as your video and there is a huge possibility that your video might not get chosen, especially if it is not famous. On Facebook, on the other hand, there is an autoplay setting, allowing a Facebook user to see the opening seconds of your video whether they like it or not (as long as they didn't turn off autoplay). If you can grab their attention during those first few seconds, they might end up watching the whole video.

I can testify to this because there are plenty of videos I would not have thought of watching but ended up watching because of autoplay.

Youtube is the pioneer in video sharing. When Google acquired Facebook it zoomed to greater heights with the growing number of users that it is now the giant in video sharing. Facebook is the giant in social media and even if it has the feature to share videos but it is not a video sharing facility like Youtube. If you are looking for a video I guess you will go to Youtube and not in Facebook.
